Chapter 5
Zoe had a full face of makeup and a black Chanel dress that hugged her baby bump. She looked like money.
Nothing left of the sweet college girl I’d met at Harry’s bedside.
She walked up to me with one hand resting on her belly. “I want a refund. I’m not staying here.”
I kept my voice level. “Is there a problem with the suite?”
She looked me up and down. “I didn’t know you worked here. Now that I do, I think it’s better if we keep our distance.”
“I’m not staying where you work. What if you try to get revenge?”
My manager rushed over and tried to smooth it over.
She pointed at me. “Keep the money. Fire her.”
Someone rushed in behind her. Justin looked at me first and gave me a small nod.
Then he took Zoe’s hand and pulled her toward the door. “We’re leaving.”

“You’re divorced. I’m Mrs. Hayes now. We’ve been together for years. Do you even love me?”
She went from furious to sobbing in a heartbeat.
Justin didn’t react.

They both hurried into the elevator after me.
We stepped out into the lobby.
Justin stopped me. “Is this because of us?”
“Let me help you find something. You could come work for me…”
Zoe rushed over and looped her arm through his. She’d been hysterical thirty seconds ago. Now she dabbed
at her eyes and smiled.
“Babe, that’d be awkward. What would your employees think if you brought Sarah into the office?”
“Let me handle it instead. You quit because of me. I know a guy from college who’s hiring. I could put in a
