Chapter 163
“Turn,” he ordered.
I squeezed my eyes shut, if he recognized me, he would have dragged me out of here by now. He would have treated me like he did when he found me in the woods with anger and disgust. He wouldn’t be moaning for a sister.
But maybe he would… just like he did at the office.
I turned slowly and moved my legs so I was straddling one of his thighs, grinding my center right against the side of his leg. I leaned back, my silver wig falling in a messy pile over his knees, and I watched him through the holes in my mask.
His eyes were hooded, dark with a hunger that looked like it could swallow the whole room.
“Yes, faster,” he ordered.
I gave him what he wanted. I moved faster. I wasn’t just dancing, I was using him. I was rubbing myself against him until the friction made my skin sting.
I ground myself against him one last time, a long, slow press that felt like it lasted forever, before I finally slowed down, panting. What the hell am I doing? This isn’t… that’s wasn’t a dance.
Then, the sound of the room was cut in half.
Rrrrrip.
The sound of tearing velvet was loud, like a bone snapping. Raphael’s hands, which had been flat and still on the couch, suddenly clenched. He didn’t touch me, but his fingers finally won the fight against the furniture. He shredded the expensive fabric of the booth.
I gasped, the sound high in my throat. My eyes flew open, and for a second. I scrambled back, my heels catching on the edge of the table as I pulled away from his lap. I felt cold the second the contact was gone. My heart was thumping so hard I thought it would burst out of my chest. I stood there, shaking, my chest heaving, looking at the two long gashes he had torn into the velvet right where his hands had been.
Raphael looked down at the ruined couch, his fingers still buried in the shredded velvet. Then, those dark, bloodshot eyes snapped up to mine.
He looked like he had just realized he didn’t want to hunt anyone in the woods anymore. He wanted to hunt me.
I gripped the silver pole behind me so hard the metal bit into my palms. It was the only thing keeping me from falling. I was terrified. My brain was a mess of jumping letters and static.
He knows. He knows. He knows.
I waited for him to reach out, grab me by my hair, and scream my name. I waited for him to tell the whole room that his stepsister was a filthy, lying stripper.
But instead, he just stood up. He towered over me, blocking out the light. I had to tilt my head back just to see his face. For a second, everything went quiet. It was the perfect moment for him to break me. It was the perfect moment for him to say my name.
But he didn’t say a word.
He just walked past me. I turned my head fast, my eyes following him. He leaned in and whispered something to the guard standing in the corner of the booth, and then he just walked away. He disappeared without looking back.

What the hell was that?
What did I do? My head was spinning. I couldn’t make sense of anything. Was I safe? Was I caught?
Before I could move a muscle, the same big guard was right in my face.
“The boss wants you in a private room. Now,” he said.
My soul left my body again. He knows, Gianna. He knows it’s you. My mind started screaming at me to run. I needed to get out of this house, get out of Chicago, and never look back. I needed to disappear before my stepbrother decided how he wanted to ruin me.
I looked toward the exit, my legs twitching, ready to bolt into the crowd. But the guard stepped into my path and cleared his throat.
