Chapter 390
My heart did a violent leap, slamming hard against my ribs until it felt like it was jumping right up into muy throat. I gave a slow, trembling nod, my eyes wide as I stared at the digital maps of the playground he had built,
“Yeah,” I breathed, as I tilted my head back against his shoulder, looking up at his beautifully deep eyes, “Are you going to tie me up?”
Raphael’s grip on my shoulders tightened, his fingers digging into my skin with a force that made me gasp. A wicked look crossed his face, his eyes dropping to my mouth.
“Maybe,” he murmured. “Maybe I’ll tie you up so pretty you won’t even be able to fight me anymore.”
A shiver rolled down my spine.
“And if I do?” he whispered against my ear, “You gonna behave for me?”
I smiled softly, “No.”
A low laugh rumbled from his chest. I let my eyes drift back toward the giant screens showing the dark woods outside. Endless trees. Empty trails. Moonlight cutting through branches.
For a second, the ache inside my chest pressed hard against my ribs again.
Friend.
The word still hurt.
But I shoved it down deep where he couldn’t see it. Maybe tonight was all I would ever get from him. Maybe one day he would wake up tired of me. Tired of my mouth. Tired of my body. Tired of always finding me waiting for him and decide to end our… deal.
So I would take tonight instead.
I would take every look.
Every touch.
Every second he gave me.
Even if it destroyed me later.
