My Stepbrother's Dirty Little Secret novel Chapter 414

Chapter 414

“Really?” he asked softly.

I looked away from him for one second toward the black panel. Vincenzo followed my line of sight slowly then looked back at me.

And whatever he saw in my face made him less explosive, “You trust her?”

“Yes.”

“With your life?”

“Yes.”

“With ours?”

That answer came slower, not because I doubted her but because of what the question meant. This wasn’t just about me anymore.

“Yes.”

Vincenzo stared at me for a long moment after that then he spoke quietly, “If you ever make me regret that answer, Raphael… there won’t be enough left of either one of you to bury.”

I held his stare, “I know.”

Another long silence stretched through the room. Then finally Vincenzo looked toward the black panel one last time before dragging a bloody hand down his jaw.

“Fine,” he said coldly, “She stays hidden.”

Relief hit me so fast and sharp it almost pissed me off because Vincenzo saw it immediately and that seemed to irritate him all over again.

Adriano moved first.

Probably because he was the only person in the room reckless enough to touch Vincenzo when he looked like this.

“Alright,” he muttered, stepping between us slightly, “Before the two of you turn this room into a homicide documentary…”

He grabbed the front of Vincenzo’s ruined shirt, fixing the twisted collar where I’d slammed him against the wall.

“You wrinkle like a bitch,” Adriano added casually while straightening the fabric near Vincenzo’s throat, “Very undignified for a feared crime lord.”

Vincenzo looked ready to shoot him too and Adriano ignored that completely because he ignored most threats the same way normal people ignored bad weather.

“You need a healthier outlet,” Adriano continued. “Maybe I’ll arrange a cage fight for you.”

Vincenzo dragged a hand down his face, “With who?”

Adriano’s eyes lit up instantly with genuine evil, “Remo Lombardi.”

I stared at him flatly, “You just want an excuse to hurt Remo again.”

“Yes,” Adriano answered immediately. “Obviously.”

Vincenzo looked unimpressed, “What did he even do this time?”

“He exists loudly,” Adriano said darkly, “Every time he walks into a room I feel violence in my soul.”
