My Stepbrother's Dirty Little Secret novel Chapter 779

Chapter 779

1 stared at the empty message box. My fingers began typing.

Me: Do whatever you have to with this. If exposing every secret tears the Philadelphia Syndicate apart, then let it. Just, please, get Gio and Perla out of here. They’ve suffered enough.

My thumb stopped. It took me three tries before I could finish writing it.

Me: I’m going to finish something that should’ve been finished a long time ago. I don’t know if I’ll make it out alive. If I don’t, I need you to hear this.

My vision blurred again.

Me: I love you. I always will. Thank you for showing me what love was supposed to feel like. If I don’t come back.. destroy all of it, Raph. Leave nothing standing.

Then, I pressed send. The progress bar appeared.

The photographs began uploading. My heart pounded. Almost… almost there, the final notification appeared.

Delivered.

A breath escaped me.

Thank God.

Before I could even turn, a hand closed around my wrist hard. The phone was ripped from my fingers so fast it barely registered,

“No-!” I spun around.

Leone stood in front of me, my phone already in his hand. He looked down at the locked screen then slowly raised his eyes to mine.

Behind him, Dad stood silently near the entrance, watching me.

Leone looked from the phone and then back to me.

Dad’s eyes never left mine as he said, “So, I suppose you’ve finally seen everything.”

I stared straight past Leone, locking my eyes onto my father’s face. The face I used to look up to. The face I used to beg for a smile from.

A cold, dark fire ignited in my chest, burning away every last trace of fear I had ever held for him.

“Everything I ever went through…” my voice cracked, shaking with a rage so heavy it threatened to snap my ribs, It was all for nothing?”

My father didn’t answer. He just stood there in the doorway, his eyes cold, empty, and completely unbothered.

“I went through all of that… for nothing?!” I screamed, the sound tearing out of my throat so hard it hurt, “It was all a fucking lie?!”

Leone tried to grab my arm to pull me back, but I shoved him off with every ounce of strength in my body. I turned back to my father, my chest heaving, tears of absolute fury spilling over my burning eyes.

“You ruined my life!” I shrieked, stepping right into my father’s face, “You ruined Gio’s life! You ruined

thousands of innocent children’s lives for nothing! It was all for nothing!”

My vision went completely red. The pain, the years of crying in the dark, the straps around my wrists, the cold water, the burning wires, it all rushed back to me at once, exploding out of my mouth.

I turned around and grabbed a metal desk lamp, ripping it from the wall with a loud snap of wires, and slammed it against the wooden desk. The glass bulb shattered into a million tiny pieces, flying everywhere across the room.

I grabbed a stack of gray folders and throwing them straight at his head. The loose papers exploded into the air, raining down like white snow, “You took everything from me!”

I grabbed a glass tray from the table and hurled it against the wall next to Leone, watching it smash to dust.

“Look at me!” I yelled, as I slapped my own chest with both hands, “Look at what you did to me! Look at what you did to your own son! You put us in that chair! You watched that man fry our brains, and for what? For a lie! For a fake fucking cure!”
