Chapter 780
It hit him hard, bouncing off his suit, but he barely blinked.
“You aren’t a father! You’re a disgusting, heartless thief! You stole my childhood! You stole my mind! You made me hate myself for years because I thought I was broken!”
I kicked a wooden chair with all my strength, sending it crashing into a shelf of files.
“I bled for you!” I sobbed. “I trusted you! I loved you!”
I pointed at the reports scattered around the room.
“And you knew. You knew the truth. You knew he’d lied to you. You knew none of it worked. You knew everything we’d suffered was for nothing,” I stared into his eyes, “…And you still started it all over again.”
My hands curled into fists.
“You are a monster,” I shook my head slowly, “No, monsters don’t hide behind children. You hid behind your own children. You’re the broken one, Giovanni…”
Every word dripped with disgust.
“You’re the coward. You’re the disease,” the tears kept falling, but I didn’t wipe them away, “I don’t hate my brain anymore,” I looked him straight in the eyes, “I hate you. I hate you with every piece of me.”
My phone rang in Leone’s hand. All three of us looked toward it at the same time.
The screen lit up.
Raphael.
Messages began appearing one after another across the locked screen. Leone’s eyes narrowed.
“No,” I lunged for the phone.
He caught me before I reached it.
“Give it back!” I clawed at his wrist, trying to pry his fingers open, “Leone!”
He shoved me back with one arm hard. I stumbled, caught myself against the desk, and threw myself at him again.
“Give me my phone!”
His free hand shot out, large fingers wrapped around my jaw, squeezing hard enough to force my head still.
Pain shot through my cheeks, “Hold still.”
“I said let me go!”
I fought him with everything I had. I kicked, twisted, scratched at his wrist. He was far stronger. He held me at arm’s length like I weighed nothing. My feet barely found the floor.
“Stop fighting.”
“Go to hell!”
The phone vibrated again. Leone glanced down at it, then back at me.

His eyes hardened, “I’m sorry, Principessa.”
Before I understood what he was doing, he pulled the phone in front of my face.
“No!” I jerked my head away.
His grip tightened. His thumb pressed against the side of my face, forcing me to look straight ahead. The screen flashed.
Face ID successful.
“No!”
The lock disappeared, my stomach dropped. Leone released my face. I immediately reached for the phone. He simply lifted it higher, far above my reach.
Another message arrived and then the phone’s accessibility feature activated. Raphael’s message filled the room in a calm electronic voice.
Raphael: I’m already coming for you. 1
Raphael: Don’t you dare move. Don’t you dare try to be brave. You stay exactly where you are. I’m the one coming.
Raphael: If you so much as throw your life away before I get there, I’ll drag your stubborn ass back from hell myself just so I can kill you for it.
Raphael: Touch one hair on your own head, and I’ll lose what’s left of my fucking mind.
