Chapter 793
Leonardo slowly nodded, “That’s a direct violation.”
Vincenzo turned toward him, “Now you remember.”
Leonardo looked up.
Vincenzo smiled, “I was beginning to worry the rules had become selective.”
Leonardo’s jaw tightened, “I made a mistake.”
Vincenzo raised an eyebrow, “One?”
Leonardo said nothing.
Vincenzo looked around the room, “Let us be honest with one another. You didn’t make one mistake. You made several. You believed a man because he had a clean suit. You believed paperwork because it had official stamps. You believed medical records because they looked impressive. You believed a father because he called himself a father.”
His voice became colder with every sentence.
“And you looked at the girl covered in scars and decided she was the unreliable one.”
Nobody could answer him.
Vincenzo’s gaze hardened, “You don’t get to hide behind the word ‘mistake.’ You were wrong and your mistake had a victim,” his eyes went to Gianna’s photograph, “Her,” then the other children, “And them. So don’t insult me by telling me you made a simple error.”
Nikolai’s expression darkened, “You brought all of this before the Council because you want the previous ruling
overturned.”
Vincenzo smiled faintly, “No, I don’t need your ruling overturned before I make my next move.” He slowly looked around the table, meeting each man’s eyes without the slightest hesitation. “That decision was made the moment I walked out of this room the first time.”
He straightened his cuffs, almost casually.
“You can come after my family with every man, every weapon, every alliance this Council can put behind you. I’ll deal with it but understand something before you make that mistake. I don’t handle losing well. Especially when the loss was never supposed to happen.”
He looked at the others one by one.
“So remember this moment. Remember the evidence I placed in front of you. Remember the faces of those children. And remember that I warned every one of you. Next time I tell you something, listen. It might save you the humiliation of discovering, far too late, that you were wrong.”.
Nikolai’s eyes moved to the empty Philadelphia seats, “First, Giovanni Toricelli will answer for ignoring a direct Council order. Second, the previous ruling regarding Gianna Toricelli is suspended.”
Leonardo nodded, “Agreed.”
Valentino followed, “Agreed.”
Luciano’s answer came last, “Agreed.”

Nikolai looked at Vincenzo, “And third, if even half of this is true, Giovanni Toricelli hasn’t simply broken Council law. He has made an enemy of every father sitting at this table.”
For several seconds, Vincenzo said nothing. Then he stood, and buttoned his jacket, “I’m going to tear the Philadelphia Syndicate apart. I’m going to take their money, their territory, their men, their businesses, their allies, and every fucking thing they’ve built.”
Nikolai leaned forward, “Don’t mistake the Council’s ruling for permission to start a war in my territory.”
Vincenzo’s eyes locked onto his, “I’m not asking for permission. So stay the fuck out of my way. Because if you don’t, you’re going to find out what happens when the man you’ve spent days trying to restrain finally stops giving a shit about being polite.”
His jaw tightened.
“I’ll come for anyone who puts themselves between me and my family. I don’t care who the fuck you are.” /
Nikolai held his stare for a long moment before giving a slow nod, “I’m with you, Capone.”
Vincenzo paused at the doorway and glanced back, “What?”
Nikolai shoved his chair back and stood, reaching for his coat, “After what we just watched?” A bitter laugh left him. “You think I’m going to sit on my ass while that bastard Toricelli keeps torturing children and calls it business?” he slipped into his coat, “Fuck that.”
His expression hardened.
“I’d rather stand beside you and put that son of a bitch in the ground than go home and explain to my own family why I sat at a table, watched children get butchered, and didn’t have the balls to do something about it. So go handle your war, Capone,” a dark smile crossed his face, “And if that coward in Philadelphia thinks he’s tough enough to stand against us, let the bastard find out exactly how badly he fucked up.”
