Even when he was trapped in his own nightmare back then, he had still been planning for her future.
Noreen's eyes instantly welled up with tears.
She was hit with a desperate, crushing need to see him, to bury herself in his arms.
To kiss him.
It felt like only that level of physical closeness could soothe the chaotic storm in her heart.
Noreen slipped quietly out of bed, grabbed a cashmere coat, and tiptoed out of the bedroom.
At the same time, she sent Seth a text.
[Are you home right now?]
The line was quiet for a few seconds before he replied, [You want to see me?]
[Yes.]
The final message she received was simply:
[Wait for me.]
Across town, Seth slipped his phone into his pocket. When he raised his eyes to look at Lillian Laurent, every trace of tenderness had vanished, leaving only a terrifying, sub-zero chill.
Lillian was bound tightly to a rusted iron chair. Her hair was plastered to her sweat-drenched face, and her lips were trembling so violently she couldn't close her mouth.
As Seth's gaze landed on her, she shook her head frantically. The reflection of his tall, imposing figure stepping out of the shadows danced in her terrified pupils.
"You shouldn't have touched her."
Seth's voice was slow, every syllable razor-sharp and bone-chilling.
"Wasn't the sex tape from five years ago enough of a lesson for you?"
Lillian convulsed in the chair.
She stared at him, pure horror radiating from her eyes.
So it was Seth who exposed the video five years ago!
Back then, Bianca had asked her if she had offended someone seeking revenge.
Lillian had run through every enemy she could think of, but she had never once suspected Seth was the mastermind pulling the strings.
But Seth just stood there, completely unfazed.
His eyes were dead and empty, like he was watching a pathetic insect thrashing in a web.
"Then I hope you live long enough to see the day my karma comes," he said casually. His chiseled jawline looked impossibly harsh and indifferent in the flickering light.
Lillian's frantic screams died instantly in her throat.
Seth didn't spare her another glance. He tilted his head toward Jude Wilder, who was leaning against the wall in the shadows, and gave a cold command.
"Since she likes selling herself so much, let her sell herself to her heart's content."
With that, he walked out the door.
Lillian collapsed like a broken doll, too paralyzed to even scream.
Jude leaned down and patted her deathly pale cheek. "Of all the people in the world, you just had to mess with Noreen. Did you really think you could touch her? You tried it five years ago, lost your reputation, and learned absolutely nothing. Now you're back for round two."
"Even God can't save you now."
He pitied her, but he felt absolutely no sympathy.
