Never Mistake a Queen for a Lapdog novel Chapter 843

So, that was why Seth Harcourt had shown up at the Regaluxe Group anniversary party?

He was stringing her along while fishing for other options.

What a jerk!

Noreen turned and walked away. When she got back to her seat, she looked visibly upset.

Castle asked if she was alright.

Noreen simply blamed it on work.

Castle didn't pry any further.

As soon as she got back to her hotel, Sophia Cole sent a message saying she had ordered some Herbal Chicken Soup for her and reminded her to drink it.

That was when Noreen remembered her period was approaching.

A week before her cycle, Sophia would always order her some warm, soothing soup to help ease the upcoming discomfort.

But it only helped; it never cured it.

Her doctor had told her that her uterine lining was naturally thinner than normal.

Ever since her miscarriage years ago, she had suffered from severe dysmenorrhea, and no amount of treatment seemed to fix it.

While taking a shower, Noreen felt a dull, heavy ache in her lower abdomen.

But according to her calendar, her period wasn't due until next week.

She was usually very regular.

It was probably just a false alarm.

Or so Noreen thought.

The next day, she had a site visit at the Regaluxe Group industrial park. When she arrived, Leonardo Soares was already waiting at the main entrance.

To Noreen's surprise, Seth was there too.

She figured he must have hit it off with Leonardo's daughter the day before.

And was planning to take things a step further today.

After getting out of the car, Noreen stood frozen for a few seconds.

A bitter chill swept through her chest.

Pushing down the inexplicable wave of emotion, Noreen walked over to greet Leonardo.

She also gave Seth a brief, indifferent nod.

Then he could play matchmaker.

But he hadn't expected this...

It was painfully obvious that Seth was still hung up on Noreen.

When a man was still stuck on his ex, no other woman stood a chance.

So, under the pretense of taking a smoke break, Leonardo called Cecilia and told her not to come.

It was a lost cause.

Cecilia was disappointed, of course.

But there were plenty of fish in the sea.

Men as handsome as Seth Harcourt might be rare, but if they looked hard enough, they could find someone else.

Hearing her brush it off, Leonardo felt relieved. "That's my girl. There are plenty of good men out there. We'll find someone even better."

While Leonardo was off smoking, Seth finally found a chance to speak with Noreen privately.

He asked her, "You look a little pale. Are you feeling okay?"

"I'm fine. Never better!"
