Never Mistake a Queen for a Lapdog novel Chapter 903

Assuming Dylan wanted to discuss business regarding InnoCore, Noreen agreed to ride in his car.

She proactively brought up the topic.

Omniva Group still held a small fraction of InnoCore shares. Whether they kept them or sold them was entirely up to Dylan.

But she had barely started before Dylan cut her off.

He said, "I didn't come here to talk business. I have some personal things to discuss with you."

Noreen frowned.

She wanted to get out, but it was too late.

The car was already merging onto the highway.

"I saw the Harborview news. Your engagement to Castle was fake, wasn't it?"

She wasn't surprised he figured it out.

And she had no intention of denying it.

To Dylan, this was incredible news.

He leaned in, his voice desperate. "You and Castle called it off, and my divorce is finalized. Does this mean we can..."

"No."

Noreen didn't even let him finish before shutting it down completely.

The hopeful smile on Dylan's face froze.

She made it crystal clear. "There is zero possibility between us."

"But you wavered before," Dylan argued, his voice rising in panic, carrying a nearly out-of-control tremor.

Noreen paused, her gaze softening slightly as she admitted the truth. "I did waver."

She didn't deny it.

Maybe it was because of that email.

Or maybe it was something else entirely.

Whatever the reason, she had genuinely considered him.

But the outcome had been a disaster.

"If you wavered once, why can't we try again?" His eyes pleaded with a raw, agonizing desperation. He spoke quickly, terrified she would reject him again. "What if this time is real?"

But Noreen's rejection remained absolute.

"I don't believe in 'what ifs'. The odds are just too small."

She didn't hesitate for a fraction of a second. Her tone was as calm and detached as if they were reviewing a quarterly report.

Dylan slumped back against the leather seat, all the fight draining out of him.

Outside the window, the rain intensified.
