Fortunately, Seth was well-behaved. He spent most of the day just staring at her, occasionally drifting off to sleep.
That near-kiss in the morning became their unspoken secret.
Honestly, Seth had a million questions he was dying to ask her.
Like, why did she ditch Dylan Wilder and choose him?
He had been so sure she was going to pick Dylan.
He had even braced himself for the heartbreak.
But he didn't dare ask.
He wanted the answer.
But he was terrified of it.
So he played the coward.
Whatever her reasons were, at least she was sitting right here beside him.
...
Claire had quite literally fled the city overnight.
She tagged along with Jennifer to Silvershore City.
Playing the gracious host, Jennifer took her out to experience the local nightlife.
After taking in the sights, Claire gave a highly objective review.
"You weren't kidding. The escorts in Silvershore City are definitely an upgrade from Rivercrest."
Not only were they gorgeous, but they were smooth-talkers. They kept calling her "sweetheart" and "gorgeous," melting the room with their charm.
These men were sharp. After overhearing bits of her and Jennifer's conversation, they realized Claire was going through a divorce. They immediately swarmed her with sympathetic flattery.
"Who in their right mind would divorce a woman as stunning as you? The guy must be blind."
"If I had a wife this gorgeous, I'd worship the ground you walk on. I'd never let you suffer a day in your life."
Claire clicked her tongue.
The emotional validation was off the charts. No wonder men always said the grass was greener on the other side.
Right now, she was thoroughly enjoying the wild grass.
"Divorce is exactly like quitting a job," Jennifer drawled over her cocktail. "Either the pay isn't enough, or the ride just isn't fun anymore."
Well... to be fair...
Felix was actually incredible in bed.
