Never Mistake a Queen for a Lapdog novel Chapter 905

A deeply familiar, comforting scent enveloped her.

His movements were incredibly gentle, treating her with a fragile reverence, as if she were a precious piece of glass.

"Sleep," his voice rumbled, barely a raspy whisper against her ear, yet it brushed over her exhausted mind like the softest feather. "I'm right here."

Surrounded by his anchoring presence, Noreen's frayed nerves finally unspooled.

She hadn't slept this soundly in a very long time.

It wasn't that her sleep was usually bad.

But her mind was always buzzing with corporate strategies and schedules.

Last night, her mind was blank, allowing her to fall into a deep slumber.

She actually slept straight through until seven in the morning.

When she fluttered her eyes open, she nearly screamed at the sight of the handsome face mere inches from hers.

There were two massive beds in this VIP suite, yet here they were, crammed onto one.

And despite the mattress being perfectly wide, they were huddled on the very edge, pressed so tightly together their breaths mingled.

His gaze was dark and turbulent, swirling with emotions so profound she felt like she might drown in them.

If she looked for even a second longer, she knew she'd be completely lost.

She quickly turned her head away, pushing lightly against his chest. "I need to get up."

"It's early. Sleep a little longer." His hand rested warmly on her waist.

He wasn't holding her tight, but she still felt entirely trapped.

As she squirmed, she felt a sudden, unmistakable shift in his body—a distinct masculine reaction pressing against her.

Noreen froze instantly. Her face erupted in flames, a deep crimson flush spreading all the way to the tips of her ears.

Seth was a healthy, hot-blooded man waking up with the woman he loved pressed against him. Naturally, his body had a mind of its own.

Unable to help himself, he leaned in, his lips hovering over hers. His breathing was heavy, laced with a desperate, razor-thin restraint.

Just as his mouth was about to claim hers, Noreen jerked her head to the side.

The kiss landed squarely on the sensitive skin of her neck, sending a violent shiver down her spine.

For a split second, Noreen's mind went entirely blank.

Driven by pure instinct, Seth shifted, wanting to take it further.

Wherever she moved, his eyes followed.

A relentless shadow.

"He's busy."

Seth had planned ahead this time. He knew Jude would meddle, so he had purposely arranged for Nina to keep Jude tangled up in distractions.

"Then I'll call Evelyn." Noreen took a step back.

"My dad's health took a turn recently. Evelyn is busy taking care of him."

"Then I'll hire you a professional nurse." She took another step back.

Seth was silent for a long moment before speaking in a low, hollow voice. "Forget it. If you're busy, just leave. I'm in a hospital. It's not like I'm going to die."

Noreen was speechless.

She was completely outmatched.

In the end, she stayed.

She balanced her workload online while making sure he was taken care of.
