Emma searched herself carefully, then shook her head so anxiously she looked ready to cry. “No!”
Even if Remy carried her memories, he was still just a cub. How could she not panic when he was missing?!
“Don’t worry yet, Emma. Maybe he saw something fun and ran off to play. He should still be somewhere inside the NexusPrime building. I’ll contact Damian right now and have him seal the place. I’ll bring Remy back.”
Emma nodded quickly, forcing herself to calm down. “Remy was still on my head when I was in the lounge. Have Damian check the surveillance. He must’ve gone missing right after I came out.”
She had patted him twice when they were all taking a break. That was why she was so certain about the timeline.
Lucien nodded and immediately informed Damian, then contacted his fellow mates about Remy’s disappearance.
Meanwhile, aboard the airship, Dahlia sat in the main control chair, glaring at Kael. “I told you to stall Emma and her mates. Why did she appear so quickly?”
If she had had just one more minute, Damian would have been entirely under her control.
Kael kept his head lowered as he replied gravely, “Emma said her stomach hurt and needed the restroom. Lucien went with her. I tried to follow, but her mate Edric stopped me.”
Dahlia’s expression went cold in an instant. “She must’ve done it on purpose. Pretending to be my
friend while not trusting me at all.”
That female can really put on a show, not like that idiot Lily, who’s genuinely stupid.
“Damian has already fallen out with the Empire’s high ranks and his clan. We need to move quickly and make him my mate. Otherwise, when he finds new backing, he’ll be harder to deal with.”
Kael frowned. “Does it have to be Damian? I heard the one who handled the Empire’s upper

ranks for him was Calum. And the Ashenflame Fox side was arranged by Lucien. What if Damian is already working with them?”
Dahlia’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “Damian used to be Emma’s match. You males are supposed to be possessive, aren’t you? Strong ones like Lucien and Calum… how could they possibly cooperate with a therian male who once competed with them for their huntress? Most likely Emma asked them to help Damian.”
She stroked her arm thoughtfully as she continued analyzing. “Looks like Emma hasn’t completely given up on Damian. That explains why he’s still hopeful even after the dissolution.”
Tibarn’s really something–to reel in a sharp, calculating male like Damian so easily.
Kael glanced at her. “So what’s next?”
“I bond with Damian–naturally,” Dahlia said without hesitation.
Having Nexus Prime Tech in hand practically meant that she controlled the Empire’s treasury. With that money, she could build her network even faster. Once her influence stretched deep enough, she would control every flow of intelligence across the Empire, then slowly dismantle it–piece by piece. When the time was right, she would lead the Chitinids to conquer the entire region.
Staring out the airship window, Dahlia said, “You go personally tonight. Bring Damian to me by any means.”
She did it the easy way; now, they would do it the hard way.
Kael nodded. “Got it. I’ll make preparations.”
But when he returned to his quarters, he slipped a hand into his jacket pocket and pulled out a berry–sized creature.
“You’ve got some nerve, kiddo. You knew she was Chitinid and still followed her.”
Remy bounced twice in Kael’s palm, whispering, “If I didn’t follow you, how would I detox you? Without me, that Chitinid would’ve eaten you alive in two days. You should thank me–I’m your lifesaver.”
“Thank you, my little lifesaver.” Kael extended a finger and gently poked the round little
creature.
