Chapter 588 Silas Steps In
“You’re too dumb. My mama doesn’t like idiots.”
Kael stared speechlessly at the tiny cub sitting in his palm.

“I’ve met Commander Hamblin–no, he’s a magistrate now. He talks way better than you.”
“That’s exactly why I said you’re dumb.” Remy shook his head with the weary patience of someone genuinely concerned for Kael’s intelligence. “My daddy only talks nicely to you for one reason–you’re useful. I, on the other hand, am honest and speak my mind.”
“Alright, that’s enough,” Kael muttered. His pride was hurt plenty.
From the moment he boarded the airship and finally regained clarity, he’d realized he had been deceived and had even acknowledged a Chitinid as his huntress.
Barely an hour had passed since then. In such a short time, he had to accept and process the stupidity of his own actions, keep Dahlia occupied for the moment, and devise a strategy to deal with her. And on top of that, he had to endure a cub sitting in his hand, calling him dumb.
Honestly…
“Fine. Since you don’t like hearing the truth; I won’t say anything else,” Remy said generously, letting him off.
Kael glanced at the route map glowing across the cabin screen, then said, “Once we arrive at the Suncrest Clan, I’ll find a chance to send you home. You sneaking away without a word like this–your mother must be worried sick.”
Emma must be worried sick now.
But Remy wasn’t the slightest bit worried. He said, “The surveillance caught me when I followed you out. Mama definitely already knows I’m with you. My daddies will come for me soon, and when they do, you can work with them to deal with the Chitinid. She’s Rank 13. You can’t kill her on your own.”
He had planned everything before he came. After all, he carried the memories of both his father and mother–he wasn’t lacking in intelligence.
“Why are you helping me?” Kael asked seriously.
“Helping you?” Remy laughed softly. “You’ve got to be kidding me. I’m helping my daddy and
mama.”

If that Chitinid’s scheme didn’t threaten his mother and mess with his father’s political plans, he couldn’t care less. He was a very selfish fruit; he only cared about the people he cared about. Every other therian could live or die–none of it concerned him.
Back at Nexus Prime Tech, Emma finally saw the surveillance showing Remy sneaking into Kael’s pocket when she wasn’t looking.
“Now we can confirm Remy’s with Kael.” Calum stood up and said gently, “Emmy, I’ll go find him now. I’ll bring Remy back safely.”
“I’m going with you,” Lucien said.
If Dahlia really was Chitinid and capable of disguising herself so perfectly as a human female, she was most likely Rank 13. If things turned violent, Calum alone would not be able to handle her.
A Rank 12 against a Rank 13 Chitinid would generate enough destructive force to blow the Central Planet apart. High–tier therians might survive if they fled immediately, but weaker innocents would all die. They absolutely could not risk that.
“Malrik, Marcus–you stay here and protect Emma,” Lucien ordered.
Marcus and the others nodded firmly. “Don’t worry. We’ll take good care of Ms. Tibarn.”
Emma reminded Calum and Lucien, “When you see Remy, don’t scold him. Don’t scare him. Bring him back first–we’ll deal with everything else later.”
They nodded, and she watched them leave.
After thinking it over, Emma decided she had better message Silas and tell him everything. Remy wasn’t hers alone; Silas had the right to know.
Silas had just finished maneuvering through a web of political foxes and securing what he wanted, and had just stepped out of the conference room, when Emma’s message arrived.
Reading it, he chuckled. ‘Got it. You head back to the castle. I’ll bring Remy home with me tonight.‘
