Chapter 882 A Different Color
Chapter 882 A Different Color
Silas was already certain Jim was in the room.
He spoke in a calm, almost soothing tone.
“Jim, it’s Silas.”
A moment later, the door gave a quiet creak and swung open by itself.
Silas stepped inside Jim’s room.
When he saw Jim curled up on the bed like a tightly wrapped bundle, he pressed his lips together briefly.
Corvir really had a talent for pushing people too far–he had actually driven Jim to this state.
Jim turned and looked over at him.
“Yeah? What do you need?” he asked.
He was well aware that Silas held the position of the primary mate in the family. Even if he didn’t feel like engaging. Silas position alone carried enough authority that he couldn’t simply disregard him.
At the very least, basic respect had to be shown.
More importantly, Silas was dangerous–clever, sharp, and not to be underestimated.
Jim had no interest in provoking him.
“I’m here about Corvin,” Silas said evenly.
Since he had already agreed to Corvin’s request, he intended to see it through.
“Corvin explained everything. Emy was only messing with him from the start. Don’t dwell on it.”
Jim fell silent.
After finishing, Silas reached into his storage and casually tossed a book onto the bed.
Γ
“I’m not sure how much your Voidbeast lineage influences bonding instincts, but you’re not stupid. This shouldn’t be beyond you.
“Still, as Emy’s primary mate, now that you’re aware of the situation, you should at least take responsibility in some fam.
“This book is for you. Whether you read it or not is
your decision.“
With that, he offered no further explanation, turned around, and left.
The door closed again behind him.
Jim kicked the blanket off and picked up the book Silas had left behind.
He flipped it open and scanned a single page.

Immediately, his ears flushed red at the realization that things could actually be done this way—something he had never been
taught before.
He sat up straight, his expression becoming unusually focused and serious.
By the time he worked through the entire book and absorbed its contents, the sky outside had already gone dark.
A soft beep sounded from the lightcore beside his bed.
The sound cut through the heavy, almost obsessive silence in the room.
Reluctantly, Jim tore his attention away and activated the device.
A message from Kieran appeared in the family group chat: “Dinner’s ready. Everyone, come downstairs.”
After reading it, Jim didn’t slip away through the shadows as he usually would.
Instead, he got up immediately.
He glanced down at his usual black outfit, then thought back to what he had just read. His brows knitted slightly.
After a brief pause, he walked to his wardrobe.
Inside were rows of identical black clothing. After digging through them for a while, he finally pulled out a single set that stood apart from the rest.
Without hesitation, he changed out of black and into the only lighter toned outfit he owned.
“Light” was still relative–it was actually a deep violet.
But in Jim’s wardrobe, this was the only color available besides black.
Compared to the endless darkness he usually wore, the violet carried a quiet, refined aura. Against it, his already fair skin looked even more striking, almost like polished jade.
He studied himself in the mirror for a moment.
It did look better.
And somehow, it suited him more.
After adjusting his clothes, he finally left the room and went downstairs.
In the dining hall, most people had already gathered.
Emma sat at the center, while Silas sat beside her peeling shrimp with practiced ease.
Marcus lounged in his chair, looking half asleep, and Corvin sat across from him.
Everyone was present except Calum, who was still away on military duty.

At the sound of footsteps, everyone instinctively looked up.
The moment their eyes landed on high, there was a collective pause.
They were far too accustomed to seeing him dressed entirely in black.
Now that he had changed, the difference was immediate and striking.
Marcus tilted his head and nudged Edric beside him. “Hey, he stole your color.”
Edric shot him a flat look. “Then, what about Calum and Alaric? Are they stealing yours too?”
After all, there were three of them with white hair–Marcus, Alaric, and Calum.
Edric didn’t hesitate to poke back.
Marcus lifted a brow. “Careful with that tongue, Edric. Keep talking like that, and you’ll end up hurting yourself someday.”
Edric went quiet.
Alaric, meanwhile, examined Jim for a moment before commenting matter–of–factly,
“From an aesthetic standpoint, a dark violet Voidbeast is visually more appealing than one dressed entirely in black.
“It adds depth, and it tends to produce a more pleasant visual impression.”
That was enough to trigger Corvin.
He looked between Jim and Lucien, who was seated beside Emmá.
“Exactly. So color actually matters a lot!”
Corvin’s expression turned completely serious. “If Lucien had been dark violet back then, Emma wouldn’t have ever called him Coalball.”
