No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 33

Darleen took the forms from Ann and glanced at Claudia.

She couldn't help but notice how pale Claudia looked.

Darleen turned back to Ann and asked, "Do you know me?"

Ann smiled, raised her left hand to tuck her hair behind her ear, and then glanced at Claudia. "I was just passing by and heard this lady call you Darleen. A friend of mine has a sister with the same name, so I thought I'd ask."

The color drained from Claudia's face. The moment she saw Ann, she had a suspicion based on her figure and hairstyle.

When she heard her probing Darleen about her last name, she was still a little unsure.

But when she saw the diamond necklace on Ann's left wrist, she knew.

This woman standing before her was Ann, the old flame York could never forget.

Claudia stood frozen, momentarily forgetting how to react.

Darleen looked at Ann with a scrutinizing gaze. "That's right, I'm Darleen. Who are you?"

Ann turned to Claudia, offering a polite smile. "I'm a friend of your brother's. My name is Ann."

Ann?

Darleen couldn't help but look at Claudia.

So this was the woman her brother held so dear in his heart.

She doesn't look like much. Definitely not in Claudia's league.

Claudia's hands, hanging by her sides, clenched into fists.

Her husband's mistress was standing right in front of her. And there was nothing she could do.

If she exposed Ann right now, York would defend her unconditionally, no matter what happened next.

She didn't have a billion dollars to divorce York.

Nor could she handle the aftermath.

If she made a scene now, she would only humiliate herself.

An unbearable pain began to seize her heart.

The emotions she had fought so hard to suppress came rushing back, hitting her with such force that she collapsed onto a bench in the hallway.

Darleen rushed to her side, worried. "Claudia, why didn't you slap her?"

Tears welled up in Claudia's eyes. Her lips trembled as she struggled to speak. "I…"

Thinking of Darleen's explosive temper, Claudia suddenly fell silent.

Darleen helped Claudia sit up straight, placed her handbag beside her, and turned to go after Ann.

Claudia tried to stop her but failed, quickly scrambling to follow.

Darleen cornered Ann at the elevator.

Ann stopped. "Miss Ferguson, can I help you?"

Darleen fought the urge to slap her, forcing a fake smile. "Miss James, just by looking at your style and accessories, I can tell you come from a fine family. Could you tell me which family you belong to? I'd love to be your friend."
