No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 32

Claudia looked up at him, her tone unnervingly calm. "I was afraid I'd interrupt you having sex with that woman."

He didn't care about her as a person, so why would he care if she was sick?

A faint sense of lifelessness hung about Claudia, something York found deeply unsettling.

He paused for a moment before changing the subject. "I have a business trip to Caledon this afternoon. The staff from the photo studio will be here to drop off the wedding dresses. You should…"

"I'm not available." Claudia cut him off, her face a blank mask as she pulled her hand away.

York's voice was laced with displeasure. "Claudia, you've argued, you've thrown tantrums, you've broken things. I expect you to know when to stop."

Claudia glanced at him once before walking straight into the dressing room.

Not long after she left, Mark appeared. "Mr. Ferguson, we're ready to leave."

"Delay our departure by two hours," York said.

Mark watched the photo studio staff coming and going and quietly left the room.

When Claudia returned that evening, she was carrying a stack of medical journals.

She looked at the wedding photos now hanging on the wall of their home with no discernible emotion.

York had always been good at keeping up appearances.

He would never let her tarnish his image as a successful, virtuous family man with a perfect home life.

Darleen came over to bring Claudia some soup and was surprised to see the materials spread across her desk. "Claudia, are you really planning to divorce my brother?"

Claudia closed her book. "I'm preparing for an internship at the hospital."

Darleen's eyes filled with reluctance. "You don't have to work so hard, you know. My brother might be a bastard, but he's always been generous with you. He even called me at noon and asked me to come keep you company."

Claudia lowered her head.

York was indeed generous with her and the Watkins family when it came to money.

But behind that generosity was calculation, an investment.

Claudia put a hand on her arm. "Darleen, just let it go."

Not far away, Ann, who had been about to get into an elevator, paused when she heard the name 'Darleen'.

Her gaze shifted between Claudia and Darleen, finally settling on Claudia.

Ann had secretly seen Claudia once after returning to the country, so she recognized her.

No wonder York had consistently maintained his distance despite all her hints.

She was an innocent-looking seductress. A real man-eater.

Ann subtly made her way toward them.

She deliberately ignored Claudia, who was standing beside Darleen, and bent down to pick up the scattered forms.

"Excuse me," Ann said, testing the waters, "is your last name Ferguson?"
