No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 498

Mark stood awkwardly by the bed, wringing his hands. "Mr. Ferguson, the friends around the madam are no pushovers. What if they find out...?"

"I'll double your salary and year-end bonus," York stated.

Mark cleared his throat. "Don't you worry, Mr. Ferguson. I will guarantee the madam's safety."

Just then, Peter walked back into the room. "What are you two talking about?"

Mark answered politely, "Nothing much. I was just advising Mr. Ferguson to stay in the hospital a few more days and rest up before returning to the company."

Peter gave Mark a light punch on the chest. "Yeah, right. I believe you."

Mark lowered his head, clutching his chest, and guiltily slipped out of the room.

The next morning, York was dressed and ready to be discharged when Sewell and Wendy, having heard the news, rushed in to stop him.

Wendy's voice was a mixture of heartache and frustration. "You can handle work remotely. For now, you need to stay in the hospital and recover properly."

"Mom, I'm fine," York said dismissively. "I'll just take some medicine."

When York tried to leave, Sewell blocked his path and pointed a finger at him, shouting, "You bastard, are you trying to kill us with anger?"

"You get yourself thrown in the hospital over a woman, and now you won't even cooperate with the doctors when you're this sick. What exactly are you trying to do?" Sewell demanded.

Faced with his father's fury, York's own expression was just as grim.

He looked at his father and said coldly, "Dad, didn't you have me just so I could carry the responsibilities of the Ferguson Group?"

"My feelings, my marriage, my body, my health—do any of those matter to you?" York pressed.

"You!"

Rendered speechless by his son's accusation, Sewell stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him.

York followed him out immediately.

Wendy's eyes welled up with tears of sympathy for her son. She turned to Peter. "Peter, take me to see Claudia."

Marcia sat in her car, watching from a distance as Claudia approached with her colleagues. She opened her car door and got out.

She had only taken a few steps in her high heels when Mark blocked her path.

Marcia's eyes flickered with confusion when she saw him. "Assistant Mark, why are you here?"

Mark glanced back at Claudia and her colleagues. "Miss Windsor, do you have business with Dr. Watkins?"

Marcia's smile slowly froze. "Assistant Mark, I don't think I need to report my visit to Dr. Watkins to you, do I?"

"You don't have to report to me, Miss Windsor," Mark said smoothly, "but I do have to report to Mr. Ferguson."

Marcia looked at Mark, then at Claudia in the distance. After a moment's hesitation, she turned around, got back in her car, and drove away.

At two in the afternoon, in the CEO's office at the Ferguson Group.

Marcia knocked and entered.
