No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 612

Peter defiantly tossed his jacket into the back seat.

"Tell me the truth," Peter asked. "What's going on between you and Claudia now?"

York rolled down the window and lit a cigarette. "Didn't you just see for yourself?"

"Did Claudia really dump you?"

York turned his head to glare at Peter, who met his murderous gaze and couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"You had it coming!" Peter said. "If you had just made a move sooner, you and Claudia could have had a kid calling you 'Dad' by now!"

York stared blankly out the window, saying nothing. Peter was right. He had it coming. Now, even wanting a simple hug required him to carefully find an excuse.

"Anyway, Ann is back now," Peter continued. "You could just marry her, right?"

York shot Peter a vicious glare. "She's not worthy!"

His face dark, York stubbed out his cigarette. "I'm heading to the office first. You can take my car back."

They drove to the company building. Just as York got out of the car, Ann's mother, Laurel, her brother, Backus, and her sister-in-law, Fiona, surrounded him.

Laurel blocked York's path. "Mr. Ferguson, I'm Ann's mother! Ann was arrested by the police for some reason. You have to save her!"

Backus added, "Mr. Ferguson, before Ann was taken away, she told us to come find you."

Fiona chimed in, "Mr. Ferguson, Ann just got back to the country. We don't know who she offended, but some godforsaken person framed her for blackmail! Ann is your savior, and she came back for you! You have to stand up for her!"

Fiona then turned to her husband and warned, "Get your mother and that little bastard out of our house right now, or I'm divorcing you!"

Fiona stormed off, still cursing.

Laurel collapsed onto the ground, sobbing without a shred of dignity. Backus was torn.

He helped his mother up, chiding her, "Mom, this is your fault. I told you it was a bad idea, but you insisted Ann go through with it. That Ferguson guy is obviously not someone to mess with. We could all end up in jail!"

Laurel trembled with fear. "That damned Ferguson... I never thought he'd suspect your sister, let alone uncover the truth!"

Suddenly, Laurel scrambled to her feet. "Backus, call your aunt right now! She's always loved your sister like her own daughter. She'll know how to save us."
