No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1035

Frank patted Carl on the shoulder and replied, "Of course. Do you even have to ask?"

Carl, however, started to react wildly. "It's not the same as yours. What I'm thinking of is different from you guys."

Frank looked at him with confusion. "Carl, what's wrong? Are you hiding something from us all this time?"

Carl then snapped out of it right away. "It's nothing."

He returned to being the quiet and reserved Carl once more.

Frank then explained, "When you were treating Noelle's injuries, I heard that she woke up once during the procedure. She was so frightened by seeing you that she fell off the operating table."

A crack appeared within Carl's expression.

Frank pressed on further, "Why would Noelle be so scared of you back then? Did you secretly do something to her in the past?"

"No," Carl shouted.

Realizing that he was overreacting, he calmed himself down and continued, "I only started learning all these after I went to the island. You know that.

"I haven't been back for all these years. When would I have had the chance to hurt her?"

Blake nodded in agreement. "Yeah, we all know that."

Frank continued staring at Carl. "Then why was Noelle so afraid of you? Did you ever ask her about it?"

Carl's throat trembled slightly. He did not dare to ask her about it.

He himself had also only managed to confirm certain details at that moment.

Blake explained, "Cedric took Noelle away back then, so there was no way we could have had a chance to talk to her about it. She won't even come home to talk to us anymore. It's as if we've really become strangers to her."

Every time Blake returned to the Liddell residence and saw Noelle's empty old room, he could not help but feel his heart ache. Because of everything he had done to her, he felt too guilty to expect anything from her.

Frank fell silent as well. He was also thinking the same thing as Blake.

Carl then spoke up calmly. "We can still change all of this so long as we work together. When there's a will, there's a way. Nothing is impossible to change."

He knew that as a fact because, at that point, everything had already changed.

It also meant that anything was possible.

With that thought in mind, a confident smile crept up on Carl's face.

"It can be cured, but it's a bit complicated. The poison has been within her body for a very long time. Her bodily functions have been damaged and will take a long time to recover.

"There's still a chance that some of the damage might become permanent. I can't say for sure," Carl replied.

Noelle let out a sigh of relief. "As long as Mrs. Greene can be treated."

The worst-case scenario would have been that there was no cure for the poison.

Carl saw the smile on her face and froze up for a moment. "This is the first time you've ever smiled at me."

Noelle lowered her gaze and replied, "How complicated will the treatment be? What do we need to prepare beforehand?"

"I'll handle the preparations. I just need a lab along with equipment to formulate the antidote."

Noelle then turned to Cedric.

Cedric nodded and said, "I'll have someone set it up right away."

Carl then continued, "I'll make a list of all the equipment I'll need, but it's going to be rather expensive."
