Noelle glanced at Xenia, who'd fallen to the floor. There was a flicker of surprise in her eyes.
She hadn't seen how Xenia fell, but the latter's scream was loud enough to quickly draw Wyatt over. He rushed to her side and helped her up.
"Are you alright? How did you fall?"
Xenia's face was pale from the pain. Holding a trembling hand, she pointed at Noelle and stammered, "I-it was her! She pushed me on purpose!"
When Wyatt looked up and saw Noelle standing there, his expression immediately darkened. "Why would you do that?"
Noelle had heard such accusations countless times and calmly replied, "I didn't push her. She rushed over and grabbed the door, only to fall on her own."
Noticing they were standing outside Noelle's room, Wyatt turned to Xenia and snapped, "Why are you even here? Weren't you told to stay in your room and not come out?"
"I just wanted to get a bit of air. When I saw Noelle coming back, I thought I'd try to talk to her and ease the tension a little. I didn't think she'd shove me to the ground like that…"
Xenia's voice trembled with grievance and painted her as the victim.
Wyatt's irritation was building. "Barnaby, bring a wheelchair and get her to the hospital!"
Xenia grabbed his hand tightly. "This is our child, Wyatt. No matter how mad Noelle is at us, she shouldn't take it out on an innocent baby."
Wyatt stood up and looked at Noelle. "Don't you have anything to say for yourself?"
Noelle responded with a mocking smile, "What exactly do you want me to explain?"
Xenia quickly added, "She's not explaining because she's guilty."
At that moment, the rest of the Liddells arrived. Frank was the first to speak. "What's going on, Wyatt? Think about it; Noelle has no reason to do that."
Wyatt remained silent.
Both Xenia and Wyatt stared at him in disbelief. Carl's authority in the Liddell family had long surpassed even that of Donovan.
Xenia panicked. "Carl, w-what did I do wrong? Please don't drive me out."
Why was Carl so harsh toward her? She'd never done anything to him. Carl shot her a dead, cold look, and whatever Xenia had been about to say froze in her throat.
Carl coldly continued, "Because you're the daughter of a murderer, and you don't deserve to stay in the Liddell residence."
Wyatt immediately spoke up. "Carl—"
"If you say one more word, you're getting out, too." Carl's tone remained flat, but the authority in his voice allowed no argument.
Donovan frowned. "No matter what, we should wait until the child is born. That baby's a Liddell, after all."
