Donovan didn't believe Carl would willingly hand over everything he'd worked so hard to achieve to Noelle.
Carl calmly replied, "If Noelle will forgive me, why does my business or money matter? I'd even give her my life if it would make things right."
His words stunned everyone present, especially Donovan. The latter asked in shock, "Since when did you and Noelle get so close? You barely came home after moving out, and as far as I recall, you two hardly kept in touch."
He couldn't help but think Carl was being too kind to Noelle.
Still composed, Carl replied, "She's my only sister, after all. No matter what happened later, we were close when we were kids. Have you all forgotten that?"
Silence fell over the group. Donovan's gaze turned suspicious. "Did you hurt Noelle behind our backs? Is that why you're so eager to make it up to her?"
He was aware of Carl's cold and aloof personality. That was how Carl had managed to isolate himself on a remote island for years, focusing solely on research. For someone like that to suddenly act this emotionally invested and treat Noelle so well… something didn't sit right.
The moment Carl heard that accusation, his expression shifted. He grabbed Donovan by the collar and growled, "What gives you the right to say that? Haven't you done enough awful things to her over the years?"
Carl, who was usually calm and rational, losing his temper like this shocked everyone.
Frank rushed over and tried to pull him back. "Calm down, Carl. We're at the courthouse."
But Carl shoved him aside and pointed at everyone. "You're all guilty. Every single one of you did unforgivable things to Noelle. Don't pretend this was just my mistake; we share the blame!"
Donovan thought about his current partnership with PZ Group. He still needed Carl's support, so he smoothed his clothes and said, "Fine. As the eldest, I won't stoop to fight with my younger brother."
As they continued walking, they spotted Noelle talking to Jeremy.
Seeing them approach, Noelle looked up and calmly said, "Mr. Sulton will be heading into court shortly. There are a few things he needs to go over with you."
Jeremy laid out several points to be mindful of during the trial, ensuring none of the Liddells made a mistake. But once he was done, his tone turned sarcastic as he continued, "Why didn't any of you answer the reporters just now? Were you scared?"
Donovan's expression darkened instantly. "What's that supposed to mean? Did you arrange those reporters?"
