Cedric shot her a cold look and responded, "Your dad's condition is that I pay for that mistress and her son to be sent abroad and provide them with a good life until he's released from prison."

As soon as Laura heard that, her expression twisted. "No way! My dad would never do something like that!"

Samantha smiled bitterly as she spoke up. "I told you, Laura. Dad has an illegitimate son outside, and he really likes that boy. You just refused to listen."

But Laura suddenly let out a sharp cry. "Don't think you've won, Noelle! Once this trial is over, my mom might be sentenced to life in prison, but she'll be alive and not sentenced to death. Do you think it's that easy to get the death penalty?"

She'd consulted lawyers and learned that the most likely outcome was life imprisonment and not execution. As long as Ruth was alive, she believed Noelle would remain in pain. After all, both the latter's parents were dead.

Noelle's expression darkened while Jeremy stepped in and said, "Whether she gets the death penalty or not isn't up to you."

"Is that so? Why don't you check your phones and see what the public is saying right now? The court doesn't hand down death sentences so easily." Laura sneered.
