No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1054

"How's that little bit of money even enough? I raised you both all these years; do you think I spent any less on you?"

Ruth was unwilling to accept the situation and was about to continue her tirade when someone nearby sternly warned her not to shout in court. The scolding startled her, and she begrudgingly stood in the defendant's box.

When the hearing began, she immediately said, "I'm framed! I never hired anyone to commit murder. It was that driver who acted on his own to blackmail me!"

On the other side, Sean remained calm, knowing they had irrefutable evidence proving Ruth had ordered the hit.

When the video evidence was played in court, her face paled. Her expression twisted as she glared at Sean. "You kept backup!"

Her heart sank. She'd always looked down on Sean and his men, but now, she realized just how cunning and meticulous they were.

Now, she wondered if those people were really just street punks. No ordinary thug could have pulled off something so calculated.

Once the video played, the tide turned completely against her. Combined with Sean's testimony, there was more than enough to prove she'd orchestrated the murder.

Yet, she refused to give up. "I was framed! His testimony means nothing. His daughter gave birth to a child for the Liddells, and they paid for his testimony!"

She grasped at every last straw and refused to confess. She didn't want to die; she wanted to live.

That was when Dieter was called to the stand as a witness. He pointed to Ruth and testified that she was indeed the one who'd ordered the hit.

Hearing Dieter betray her like that, Ruth's fury erupted. She looked like she wanted to kill him on the spot.

She pointed at him and screamed, "Why are you doing this to me? What did I ever do to deserve this? Everything I did was for the Merlock family!"

Noelle nodded. She could tell that Ruth had passed out more as a tactic and genuine fear. It was just another way to avoid facing the consequences.

After stepping off the platform, Mia and Grace greeted her. "Congratulations. The murderer is finally going to pay the price."

Though Dieter had acted as a witness, he was still taken into custody. After all, he'd helped cover up the crime, and it was a charge in itself.

As he was led away, he looked at Cedric with a fawning expression. "I've turned myself in just like you said, Mr. Greene. You have to keep your promise."

Cedric gave him a slight nod, and it was only then that Dieter was satisfied. He didn't resist as he was escorted out.

Seeing this, Laura felt a glimmer of hope as she hurried over to Cedric and asked, "Did you make a deal with my dad? Are you helping us?"
