"You guessed correctly. I came here to laugh at you."

After being retorted twice in a row, Ruth's expression finally shifted. "I heard that you were seriously ill. I can't believe you're still in the mood to come all the way here just to mock me."

She wondered if Emma had already given up on living.

Emma smiled faintly and replied, "Do I look like someone who's seriously ill to you?"

"Drop the act, Emma. I know about your condition. You'd better be thinking about getting your hands on a kidney donor, or you're going to die."

The implication in Ruth's words was obvious. Emma had no choice but to beg her for help if Emma wanted to survive. Ruth had been waiting a long time for this moment.

Emma replied coldly, "Even if I were to die, you'll be going ahead before me."

Ruth scoffed. "I may have committed a lot of crimes, but I wouldn't be given the death penalty. The worst case scenario will probably just be life imprisonment.
