Noelle was infuriated, but she did not even feel like talking to any of her brothers. She just felt utterly exhausted. Everything she needed to say had already been said long ago.
But the Liddells would always end up messing things up again, only to apologize to her nonchalantly after.
Cedric's deep voice came through the phone. "I know, but you won't have to deal with them ever again once the lawsuit is over."
"That's what I'm thinking, too. That's the only reason I've held out for this long without cutting them off and blocking them from contacting me," Noelle replied.
She held onto her phone tightly as she continued, "It's getting late. You should get some rest."
Cedric explained, "I'm at the hospital as well. My mom isn't feeling well. I'd already be with you otherwise."
He was standing in the corridor, looking out at the darkness outside the window.
Noelle grew worried. "Is everything okay? Should I get Carl to come check up on Mrs. Greene?"
"It's fine. Carl already replied to my messages. He said that it was most likely a side effect of the medication. It's something that's bound to happen."
Her heart clenched up upon hearing the words 'side effect.'
She then replied, "Alright. You should stay with Mrs. Greene then. I'll be fine by myself over here."
"Just let me know if anything comes up."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Noelle stared up at the autumn night sky and saw that it resembled that of a ferocious beast with its bloody jaws wide open. She could not shake off the bad feeling of unease in her heart.
Just then, the lights went out in the emergency room. Both the doctor and the nurse walked out and said, "We're sorry. We've done everything we could, but the patient has passed away."
Noelle could not believe her ears when she heard them say she passed away. Xenia was dead, just like that.
