No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1081

Noelle's heart tightened when she saw Jeremy. She didn't know what news he would bring. But based on what was happening, it was unlikely to be good news.

Jeremy glanced at her. "I'm sorry. I've done everything I could. But due to Xenia's death and the fact that her mother has now appointed a lawyer to handle this matter, it may affect the judge's final decision."

Noelle guessed this would happen. She smiled bitterly at the confirmation. After all their hard work, things went wrong at the final moment.

Jeremy continued, "I've had people look into that lawyer. So far, we haven't found any useful information. He's not from around here and isn't well-known."

They would have found out who was behind this if the lawyer were from Yasnia. But since he was from out of town, it would take more time. At least, they couldn't find anything now.

Cedric asked, "Where is this lawyer from?"

Jeremy hummed. "I think it was called Sunville."

Noelle spoke up, "Isn't that Xenia's hometown? Is it possible that her mother never left?"

Cedric looked over. "When we were investigating Xenia and Sean, we sent people to her hometown. There was no trace of her mother."

Alfred nodded. "And according to the locals, since Sean and the others had been constantly in and out of police custody since they were young, the rest of their relatives always kept their distance.

"So there's been little contact over the years, and people don't know much about Sean and his circle."

Send someone to investigate that lawyer. Maybe follow him. We might learn something," Noelle said. "The lawyer might meet Xenia's mother after they finish up."
