Fortunately, the house had heating, so it wasn't cold at all. Noelle lay on the bed, so exhausted she could barely keep her eyes open.
Cedric held her and kissed the corner of her mouth, whispering, "Go to sleep."
Noelle quickly drifted off in his arms. He watched her for a moment, then turned his eyes toward the snowy scene outside the window. A small smile played on his lips as he slowly closed his eyes, thinking, "This is just perfect."
...
The next day, when Noelle woke up, she belatedly noticed the view outside the window—everything was blanketed in white snow.
"You're awake?" Cedric murmured beside her.
"Yeah… look at the snow outside," she mumbled.
It had snowed a few days ago, but nothing this heavy. Cedric rubbed his face gently against hers, brushing her cheek.
That topic change caught Noelle off guard. She turned her head slightly and asked, "What does snow have to do with gifts?"
"Isn't it like how everyone wants a pumpkin spice latte in the fall? So in winter, it's a first-snow gift," he said with a grin.
Noelle chuckled softly. "I feel like I already have everything I want. There's really nothing I need."
After saying that, she wrapped her arms around him again. In this lifetime, she truly didn't have anything special she wanted. She had died on a snowy day in her past life, but this time, everything was completely different.
Suddenly, Noelle's vision darkened slightly. Looking up, she found herself face to face with his deep, unreadable gaze.
Cedric looked down at her from above. "Did your mood just now dip because I wasn't good last night?"
"No, no! It's because I had a bad dream," she replied quickly.
"What kind of bad dream? Share it with me," he urged.
Noelle lowered her gaze. "I dreamt that I never came to my senses, that I kept letting the Liddells use me, and I didn't do well on my college entrance exam. I even ended up retaking the senior year with Xenia…"
Cedric lowered his head and kissed her before she could say more. When he pulled away, he looked at her and said, "Let's stop that doom and gloom talk. It's just going to ruin our mood."
"You're right," she whispered, nodding.
Just then, a phone started ringing. Noelle reached out, grabbed it, and answered. "Hello?"
"Nelly? Why are you the one answering the phone?"
It was only then that Noelle realized it was Cedric's phone in her hand. Her face flushed as she shoved the phone at him and pulled the blanket over her head, feeling completely embarrassed.
Cedric took the phone, his voice equally lazy. "Yeah, what's up?"
"Did you forget we agreed to discuss the PZ Group matter today? You were supposed to be here!
"Nelly answered your phone, man—are you even coming or what?" Alfred sounded like he already knew the answer.
Cedric checked the time. "Give me a bit."
After hanging up, he looked over at Noelle. "I was supposed to meet them today to discuss the PZ Group investment fraud. Forgot to tell you yesterday."
Noelle's eyes widened. "Did you guys actually find something?"
