No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1148

Cedric took off his coat and wrapped it around his hands before clearing away some of the shattered glass. He padded the warped edge of the car window and said calmly, "Give me your hand."

The little boy—Eason Cantrell—looked terrified but quickly reached out. Cedric gritted his teeth and pulled him out in one strong motion.

Noelle stood nearby and watched, her mind flashing back to that car accident from her childhood. Back then, Cedric had pulled her out the same way. However, he had broken the glass with his bare hands back then, and he had no coat for protection.

The next moment, Cedric glanced at her. "Take the kid and step back."

As Noelle held onto the boy, she suddenly detected a sharp, burning scent that made her freeze—gasoline. Her expression changed instantly as her eyes darted to the overturned car.

Was it going to explode?

She stared at Cedric's back as he moved toward the wreck, and panic gripped her heart. She shouted, "Cedric, come back!"

She worried something terrible would happen.

However, Cedric didn't look back. Noelle's mind went blank, and she was ready to run after him.

"Don't go, miss!" Eason tugged on her hand, his face still pale with fear. "We have to find a fire extinguisher."

While Noelle was being held back, she looked up again to see Cedric working with several people to lift the car. Her heart nearly jumped out of her chest.

Turning to Eason, she said, "Stay right here; don't move."

Noelle turned to find Cedric's driver, Hugo, wondering if the luxury car had a fire extinguisher. Fortunately, it did. She grabbed it and sprinted back toward Cedric.

Cedric smiled faintly. "Yeah, okay."

"Ms. Liddell, Mr. Greene, thank you for saving us just now." Ivy, who was covered in blood and limping, walked over with Eason supporting her arm.

Noelle hadn't expected to encounter her here either. Thinking of how Ivy had desperately tried to save the child earlier, she felt somewhat moved. She also hadn't expected that the small truck they'd avoided had crashed into Ivy's car.

And now, looking at Ivy—her face bearing a resemblance to Xenia—Noelle couldn't summon any other emotion. She simply said, "It's nothing. You're both badly hurt, though. You should get to the hospital right away."

Then, she turned to Cedric and gently pulled his hand. "Let's go, too. We need to get your injuries cleaned up."

Cedric didn't argue and followed her obediently. But before they left, he looked back at Ivy and Eason. His eyes narrowed slightly as he wondered if it really was just a coincidence.
