Soon, a car arranged by the Greene family arrived. Noelle got in the car with Cedric and looked at him, asking, "When you were rescuing people, weren't you scared?"
He turned to look at Noelle and said, "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't. But the whole scene looked too much like the accident from back then—I couldn't just walk away.
"I couldn't save your parents that day, but this time, I wanted to get those people out." And that was exactly what Cedric had been thinking at that moment.
Noelle's eyes turned red. "I never imagined the person in that car would be Ivy."
"Yeah… that caught me off guard, too," he admitted.
Noelle looked at him and said, "We should call the team. There's no way we'll make it today—let's reschedule."
"You make the call. My hands are kind of useless right now."
Noelle pulled out her phone and called Alfred. He picked up immediately. "Where are you guys?"
"We can't make it. There was a multi-car pileup on the bridge."
Alfred's voice immediately tensed. "What? A crash? Are you both okay?"
"We're alright. Cedric got a bit banged up, so we're heading to the hospital now."
"Alright. Go ahead."
It was only after hanging up that Noelle finally exhaled. As for Ivy's situation, she'd tell Mia about it later. There was no rush anyway.
...
When they arrived at the hospital, Cedric was taken to the treatment room to get his wounds disinfected.
Noelle waited just outside, watching through the glass with a worried frown. His hands were wrapped in clothing just now, yet he still managed to get hurt.
Right then, the elevator doors opened, and Mia stepped out. She caught sight of Noelle and Cedric wrapped in each other's arms.
Noelle quickly pulled away, her face flushing. "What are you doing here?"
"We heard there was a crash. Of course, we came to check on you," Mia said, relief washing over her face once she saw that Noelle was unharmed.
Alfred walked up as well, looking Cedric over. "Only some injuries?"
Cedric lifted an eyebrow. "What were you expecting?"
Mia continued, "We heard it was you two who saved Ivy and Eason, right?"
"You already found out?" Noelle was shocked. But then she figured Ivy and the boy must have already been brought in, and with Mia being the closest family member, she would've been notified right away.
Mia nodded. "I rushed over as soon as I got the call. I just went to check on them—they're mostly surface injuries, though Ivy is hurt a bit more seriously. Eason is fine, just shaken up."
