Noelle looked at Donovan. "Have you forgotten how PZ Group almost took over and dismantled our company? Working with them is like signing a deal with your worst enemy."
Donovan replied, "I haven't forgotten. But honestly, Liddell Corporation's already in a bad place. If we don't act now, bankruptcy's all we've got left."
He glanced at her. "I asked you to come back to the company before, but you refused. If you had, you could've kept Mom and Dad's legacy alive."
Noelle gave a bitter smile. "That's never going to happen."
Frank quickly tried to ease the tension. "Noelle, are you warning us because you know something?"
"I'm not going to spell it out for you," Noelle said calmly. "But I've said what I needed to say. If you're smart, you'll stay away from any financial dealings with PZ."
Frank blinked in surprise. "How did you know they invited us to invest in that high-return project?"
Donovan looked over. "Don't you remember? PZ Group said a lot of people in high society had already invested. They claimed it offered high returns with low risk. It all sounded very secure."
Noelle scoffed. "There's no such thing as easy money. High returns with low risk? That just doesn't add up. I'm done here. Think carefully before you get involved."
She turned and walked away. The last thing she wanted was to see her parents' legacy destroyed by PZ Group's schemes.
Even now, she wasn't sure she could stop PZ Group or get their money back.
After Noelle left, Frank and Donovan exchanged a look.
Frank asked, "Did you transfer the money to PZ Group yet?"
Donovan shook his head. "Not yet. After they suddenly replaced Mike with someone from the Merlock family, I got a bad feeling, so I held off."
Frank nodded. "I don't trust those high-return promises either. We should probably back out. We've still got the formal partnership deal. As long as the terms are clearly laid out in writing, it should be fine."
Donovan hesitated. "Don't you think pulling out will upset them?"
Frank replied, "Business is business. If they blow up just because we backed out of an investment, that's even more reason to stay away."
