Ten minutes later, Cedric finally stopped, clearly not quite satisfied, and held Noelle tightly in his arms. He kissed her on the forehead. "Alright, I'll have the driver take you to the hospital."
"It's fine. I drove here myself." Noelle walked into the lounge and stood in front of the mirror to fix her hair. She noticed her lips were a little swollen and her face was flushed with warmth.
He stood silently at the doorway, watching her.
She turned to him. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I was just thinking it was a good thing we weren't in the lounge just now, or I wouldn't have been able to control myself."
She immediately understood what he meant.
So he really hadn't given up on the lounge.
She lowered her head and walked past him, then turned back and looked at him. "You should get back to work. I'm leaving."
He watched her walk away with a faint smile on his lips. He sat back down in his chair and realized he was actually looking forward to the end of the workday for the first time.
…
Noelle left Greene Corporation and drove straight to the hospital. She had even picked up a bouquet of sunflowers on the way. She went directly to Emma's ward as soon as she arrived at the hospital and found that Emma was noticeably thinner.
She felt a pang of sadness, but she still greeted her with a warm smile. "Emma, how have you been feeling lately?"
"Much better, thank you. And thank you for the sunflowers. They're so full of life." Emma's smile deepened as she looked at the bouquet.
She held Noelle's hand and looked at the emerald bracelet on her wrist. "Looks like Anastasia really likes you."
