Noelle called Carl's number, but no one answered the call.
She grew increasingly anxious as she listened to the screams coming from the treatment room. She wondered why her call was not being picked up.
She called several more times, but there was still no answer.
Noelle's eyes turned redder as she sent a message to Carl. "Why is Mrs. Greene's treatment seemingly so painful?"
She wondered why Emma never said anything about it.
Noelle waited outside the room for a long time until the treatment concluded and the hospital director came out of the room.
The hospital director was a little surprised when he saw her. "I guess you know about it now."
Noelle asked, "Why is her treatment so painful? Did Carl and his men not give you the full recipe for the antidote?"
The director shook his head. "It's always been a very painful process from the very start, but Mrs. Greene didn't want us to say anything about it. It was the patient's request, so we didn't go against her wishes."
Noelle looked into the treatment room and saw that Emma had already calmed down.
The director continued, "Mrs. Greene's currently sleeping. She'll wake up after some time."
Noelle decided not to go in the room lest she woke Emma up.
She covered her mouth and took a very long while to regain her composure.
She then looked at the director and asked, "Is there nothing we can do to ease her pain?"
"There is, but Mr. Liddell has said that it would decrease the antidote's effectiveness, so Mrs. Greene refused."
Noelle then turned to look at the sky outside and felt that the air around her was freezing.
Both Cedric and herself were completely unaware of Emma's pain the whole time.
The director let out a sigh and continued, "Both you and Mr. Greene were busy, so Mrs. Greene didn't want to cause any distractions for the both of you. She said that it was already good enough that she remained alive, so she didn't want to trouble you to beg Mr. Liddell for help."
Noelle was so distraught that she felt suffocated.
