Donovan didn't believe Noelle had earned the position of chief technical engineer on her own. It must've been Alfred pulling strings that led to her getting shares in Maple Enterprise. If she embarrassed herself later, it'd actually be beneficial for Liddell Corporation.
Mia overheard their conversation and secretly took out her phone to text Noelle and warn her to be careful during her speech.
Seeing Mia's message, Noelle smiled. She wasn't afraid of the Q&A session at all.
"Nelly." Alfred arrived at the event and scanned the crowd. "Where's Ced?"
"He got a call from the hospital as soon as he got out of the car. It was about his grandma, so he went over."
Alfred sighed. "Mrs. Greene Senior's health has been declining these past two years. Her only wish is to see Ced get married.
"That's why the Merlocks started spreading rumors and tried to get him into agreeing for Mrs. Greene Senior's sake."
Back then, Cedric had chosen to visit Aldoria and say goodbye to his past. That was when he met Noelle, and from that moment onward, many things spiraled out of control.
Noelle was silent for a moment. "Is her condition serious?"
"It is, but they luckily managed to save her. Still, her condition is unstable, and her only wish is to…"
Alfred trailed off and glanced at Noelle meaningfully. "If something were to happen to her, and Ced wants the two of you to meet, could you do him that favor and not refuse?"
The question caught Noelle off guard. She recalled how well Cedric treated her and how kind Emma was.
After a pause, she simply said, "Mrs. Greene Senior will surely get better."
Deep inside, she remembered that in her past life, Anastasia had passed away the next year. It was rumored that PZ Group had scammed the Greene Corporation, and some claimed that Anastasia had passed away from the shock of finding out.
She needed to remind Cedric not to engage in any business with PZ Group. Maybe Anastasia could live a few more years that way.
Noelle nodded. If Alfred supported Mia, breaking off the engagement wouldn't be too difficult.
Soon, the summit began. As one of the representatives, Noelle took a deep breath and stepped onto the stage for a speech. She held the microphone and started talking.
"It's an honor to be here today to discuss the latest advancements in artificial intelligence. I have a few key points I'd like to share…" Her clear voice and composed demeanor captivated the audience.
Most of the speakers selected by companies were senior technical experts, and they were all middle-aged men. Noelle was the only young woman.
Her presence on stage soon sparked discussion among the audience. "I heard she's the chief technical engineer of Maple Enterprise, a valedictorian, and a student at Yole University."
"That's not all. Maple Enterprise even gave her shares to keep her. She's being treated extremely well."
"But she's so young; is she really that talented? I heard she only got all these resources because of her special relationship with the owner of Maple Enterprise."
