The relationship between Noelle and Donovan was not the best after all. Moreover, Maple Enterprise and Liddell Corporation were business rivals.
Noelle spoke up with a half-smile. "I don't have the money. It's up to you if you want to believe me or not."
Donovan was a highly paranoid person by nature. There was no way he would believe Noelle's words. "How am I supposed to believe you? Why don't you bring Mr. Quigley over here so that I can ask him myself?"
That was unless he could ask Sean about it himself.
Xenia immediately chimed in, "Exactly! Donovan, you'll know where the money is once you ask my dad yourself. He's a self-serving coward, so he'll spill the truth in no time!"
With that, Donovan grew even more suspicious of Noelle.
Noelle stepped forward and stared at Xenia. "Mr. Quigley's a self-serving coward, you say? But would someone who killed two people for you possibly be a self-serving coward?"
Xenia panicked and immediately broke out into a cold sweat. She could only wonder how Noelle managed to learn about this. "What are you talking about? How could my dad kill anyone for me?"
There should have been no way for Noelle to know about Sean committing the murders.
Frank spoke up. "Why do you say that, Noelle?"
Xenia panicked even more. She had no idea how and when Noelle managed to find out that Sean was still alive. "Noelle's just speaking nonsense! She's lying!"
She did not want to go to prison.
Noelle turned to Frank and replied, "Do you remember the two lackeys always following Xenia around back in Aldoria? One of them helped her cheat on the college entrance exam and then supposedly committed suicide.
"The truth was, she was silenced in order to avoid her from exposing the fact that a certain someone cheated."
Xenia shouted, "Why are you slandering me like this, Noelle? I never cheated on the exam! She begged me for answers, and I just kindly gave them to her!
Donovan looked at Noelle and said, "What you said doesn't really prove that it wasn't suicide."
"Fine, then what about Gordon? I'm sure you already know the truth that it was Xenia and Gordon plotting against me. Their plan backfired, and Xenia ended up screwing herself over. But even so, whatever Gordon did did not warrant for him to commit suicide."
Donovan had, in fact, had his own doubts about it. Gordon's death had always seemed off to him, but he did not dig deep into the matter because he was afraid of the Liddell family's reputation taking a big hit.
He frowned and replied, "Everything you said is just speculation. You don't have any proof, do you?"
Xenia was visibly relieved as she spoke up. "Donovan, Noelle's clearly just slandering me! I didn't do any of that!
"I had only just gotten in touch with my dad recently, and he forced me to give him money, as well as to do whatever he told me to do in order to help him get rich. He never killed anyone!"
Noelle replied coldly, "Who said I don't have proof?"
