After hearing Noelle's reply, Xenia was so furious that she almost broke her nails from clenching her fists. She knew that Noelle would only try to make things difficult for her, but she could not believe just how disgusting Noelle was to demand that she kneel and apologize to Noelle's parents every single day.
After hearing Noelle's condition, Donovan and Frank glanced at each other. Neither of them had any objections to her demands.
They then looked at Wyatt and asked, "What do you think?"
Wyatt was at a loss for words, but he did not feel that Noelle was being unreasonable. Sean was responsible for his parents' death, so the punishment was nothing short of righteous.
Xenia deliberately clutched her belly and put up a weakened tone.
"Wyatt, I'm not feeling so well. The doctor said that I needed to stay in bed and rest for the sake of my baby. I'm afraid that kneeling and apologizing every day will affect the baby."
Frank looked at Wyatt and said, "Since you've decided to marry Xenia and keep the baby, she'll now be considered one of us, and she'll need to follow our family's rules.
"Wearing black and kneeling to pay respects to our parents is just the right thing to do, considering that her father was the one who killed our parents."
Wyatt nodded and replied, "You're right, Frank. Xenia will have to do it."
He did not even ask Xenia for her opinion and just agreed on it on his own.
Xenia was furious. She did not agree to the punishment at all, but no one had ever asked her about her feelings or thoughts on the matter. But she was in no place to refuse to fulfill Noelle's demand either.
Frank then said, "Noelle, you can let things go now that Xenia has agreed to do it, right?"
Noelle replied, "Since Xenia's agreed to do it, let's start with fulfilling today's quota. The first thing she has to do every morning will be to dress up in black, kneel, and apologize to Mom and Dad three times."
Barnaby soon brought over a set of black clothes. They had clearly been prepared well in advance.
Noelle looked at Xenia with a half-smile and continued, "Put them on. You're the future in-law of the Liddells. You should at least respect our customs."
Xenia felt extremely aggrieved and did not make a move for a long while.
"Why would Mrs. Merlock disappear now of all times? How could I not suspect you regarding this matter?"
Wyatt sneered from the side and said, "You're giving her too much credit, Donovan. How could she possibly have the guts or capability to kidnap Mrs. Merlock?"
"She may not be able to do it, but the Greene family easily could. Don't you forget about her connection with Mr. Greene," Donovan replied.
Wyatt's expression shifted slightly before he scoffed. "Didn't Mr. Greene already dump her because his family did not approve of the relationship?"
Donovan did not believe it at all, as Ruth's disappearance at such a critical time was nothing short of suspicious.
He stared at Noelle and said, "We're a family. We should unite to fight back against our enemies. If you have any information regarding Mrs. Merlock, you should share it with us."
Noelle replied, "Whatever happened to Mrs. Merlock has nothing to do with me. You'd better stop spreading rumors about this."
