Only a fool would abandon the Liddells' wealth and status for a father who was a murderer, and Xenia was not that stupid. She quickly raised her hand in surrender and said, "Frank, I'll cooperate fully."
"So, do you still need to go to the hospital?" Frank's sharp gaze made it clear he saw through her act.
Xenia immediately shook her head. "I-I feel fine now. I can keep working with the sketch artist."
She had tested the Liddells' resolve and realized they were united on this. Even Wyatt, the usually spineless idiot, would not budge. Knowing she could not push further, Xenia had no choice but to comply.
Noelle watched the bitch back down, then smirked. "I want results by dinner. We're running out of time."
With that, she headed to the dining room since hunger was gnawing at her. Soon, Frank followed and whispered, "Noelle, just between us—do you actually have Sean?"
Noelle glanced over and noticed that Donovan had tagged along, too. She was not ready to show her hand yet, and she kept her tone icy as she replied, "You'll find out when the sketch is done."
Donovan frowned. "You don't trust us?"
Her laugh was razor-sharp. "Give me one reason I should."
He flinched, then sighed. "Noelle, I know I was wrong before. I see now how much we failed you."
"Oh," Noelle responded with a flat, uninterested hum.
Donovan's temper flared. "Noelle, I've apologized. What more do you want from me?"
Noelle did not want to hear another word. So, she set her utensils down and walked out of the dining room without looking back. Truthfully, she had no use for the Liddells' so-called prideful apologies.
The moment she left, Donovan could no longer hold back his temper. "Did you see her attitude? I apologized, and she still wouldn't accept it!"
"Donovan, that didn't even sound like an apology. Why were you acting like you were doing her a favor?"
"But I'm her older brother! Can't she at least show me a little respect?" He was seething, and though he knew deep down he had crossed the line, swallowing his pride was not that easy.
Just then, Wyatt stormed into the dining room, his expression thunderous. "Now you get it, huh? Noelle has ice in her veins! Honestly, we never should've treated her so well."
He believed that if she got a taste of her own medicine for once, she might not be acting so high and mighty.
