Donovan clenched his jaw, refusing to engage further.
Wyatt, mistaking his silence for agreement, pressed on. "Donovan, you shouldn't let Noelle walk all over you like this. Make her give back the villa—it's rightfully ours."
Before Donovan could respond, Frank slammed his hands on the table. "What the hell is wrong with you, Wyatt? Donovan promised the villa to Noelle—we can't go back on our word!"
"But it was our parents' property! How could Donovan just hand it over to Noelle, especially when she treats him with zero respect? What's wrong with asking for it back?"
In Wyatt's mind, as the elder brother, he should have the first claim to the family assets, not Noelle.
Frank saw right through him. "Cut the crap, Wyatt. You just want that villa for yourself. Well, tough luck—it's not happening."
Donovan, who was already simmering with frustration, finally snapped. "You want to know why I gave it to Noelle? Because of you, you selfish bastard! If you hadn't screwed up back then, I wouldn't have been forced into that deal!"
Had Wyatt already forgotten everything that happened? The more Donovan thought about it, the angrier he became. Compared to Noelle, Wyatt was nothing but dead weight.
"Donovan, I'll admit you've helped me a lot, and I've always respected you as my older brother," Wyatt said, trying to sound sincere. "But just look at how Noelle treats you."
Donovan growled, "Her attitude toward me is none of your business. If it weren't for Xenia, the Liddell family wouldn't have ended up like this. I should've never brought her back into our lives."
The weight of that mistake haunted him daily. If he had not taken Xenia in, none of this would have happened, and maybe Noelle would not have grown so distant.
Wyatt scoffed. "Donovan, that's not fair. You couldn't have known the truth at the time. The real villain here is Noelle—she knew the truth but hid it from us, then humiliated us at the wedding!
"She made the Liddells a laughingstock in high society. She's the one who should be punished!"
"If it wasn't for Noelle, Xenia would've taken that money and disappeared without a trace. You really think she'd still be playing house with you?"
Wyatt froze at those words and sank into silence. Of course, he knew that if Noelle had not exposed everything, Xenia would have been long gone by now.
Frank turned back to Donovan. "Donovan, Liddell Corporation is barely hanging on. The only smart move now is to rebuild your relationship with Noelle. Why can't you be a little more patient?"
Donovan rubbed his temples. "Frank, it's not that simple. She won't even accept my apologies."
"That's because you were way too harsh on her before," Frank replied.
Donovan paused, then muttered, "She used to be closer to you. Perhaps you should be the one to speak with her. If I say anything, it'll just end up like it did earlier—with another argument."
