Noelle looked at Cedric and asked, "What is it?"
She remembered him saying something similar before, but she had forgotten to follow up.
Cedric seriously stared at her. "Now's not the time. Once Sean is in police custody, I'll tell you everything. That's the current priority."
When the time came, he'd have to testify and point out the Merlock family's involvement. Noelle would naturally find out then.
But Noelle couldn't help thinking about Ruth and Emma, who were best friends. Could Cedric have other plans she didn't know about?
There had to be a reason he refused to talk about it now, so she didn't press further.
The truth was, having Cedric do all this for her and going as far as to kidnap Ruth, she'd be lying if she said she wasn't moved. Now that Emma knew about it, she must hate Noelle to the core.
If she and Cedric ended up together, winning over Emma wouldn't be easy.
As the thought crossed her mind, Noelle glanced over at him. "Your mom came after I left that day. What did the two of you talk about?"
She didn't have to guess to know Emma must have been furious.
"Nothing much. I just told her everything about the Merlocks. She's not going to send her son to jail just to save her friend."
Noelle went quiet for a long moment after hearing that. Frank's words echoed in her mind. "You've been leaning on Mr. Greene this whole time, but what's that going to cost you?"
"What's wrong? Are you upset? Don't worry, my mom won't interfere anymore," Cedric reassured her.
Now that Cedric had gone so far as to kidnap Ruth with Emma finding out, that was a big deal on its own. She was grateful for everything he'd done, and if she shrank back now, it would be unfair now.
She turned to him with clear and firm eyes before nodding. "Okay."
Once everything was over, they'd talk about everything between them. Even if no one approved and the world stood against them, she'd stay by his side and face everything with him.
Cedric saw her nod and couldn't hold back. He grabbed her hand tightly and murmured, "Thank you, Nelly…"
In his heart, he thought, "Thank you for giving me another chance."
Noelle's heart skipped wildly.
