The moment Noelle heard that something had happened to Mia, her instincts immediately pointed to Donovan.
They had just discussed how Liddell Corporation was on the verge of collapse and would likely go under if it didn't receive a financial lifeline soon. If he wanted to avoid bankruptcy, his only shot was to come up with a large sum of money—and fast.
Cedric had already contacted several banks and investors behind the scenes, making it nearly impossible for Donovan to secure a loan. Hence, Donovan was left with one option: the Cantrells.
If Noelle hadn't warned Mia about who Donovan really was, the two of them would probably be engaged by now. If Donovan became the Cantrells' son-in-law, he'd have control over Mia's inheritance, and that kind of money could bail him out in a heartbeat.
In her past life, he likely managed to pull it off. But this time, Noelle had stepped in, and Mia wasn't naive either. During Mia's birthday party, she shut Donovan down publicly.
Donovan had tried to win her back a few times, but Mia never looked back. And with how proud and arrogant Donovan was, he hadn't pushed the issue. Nonetheless, the situation was different now.
Grace's panicked voice came through the phone. "Mia and I were supposed to try that new restaurant tonight. I waited after her class, but she never came back.
"I called and called, but she didn't answer, so I went to look for her. Someone told me they saw her meeting someone at the front gate, and she left with the person."
Grace hadn't wanted to jump to conclusions, but after everything she'd learned from Noelle and Mia about how these wealthy families operated, her gut told her something was wrong. So, she called Noelle.
"Don't panic. Just tell me what time she was seen at the school gate, and I'll try to trace the car."
If she could identify the car, she'd know exactly where Mia had gone. Once Grace sent the timestamp, she immediately accessed the surveillance cameras near the school using her laptop. Sure enough, she saw Mia walking out of the building.
When Noelle spotted the license plate, she froze. She didn't need to run it through any database to know whose car it was—it was Donovan's.
Her eyes turned icy. She could not believe that Donovan actually dared to make a move on Mia again—he must have a death wish.
There was no way he could have done it without Salena's silent approval. These people were all circling Mia like vultures, thinking they could snatch up her inheritance just because she was an orphan.
Noelle drew a deep breath. Right now, the most important thing was to look for Mia.
