Noelle immediately regretted asking such a question. She knew that she could not possibly expect any sensible answer from a close friend of Cedric himself.

Eugene, however, seriously thought about the question and answered, "I don't really know what happened between the two of you, but I know that he's a good guy."

He was never really one for talking. After giving her his answer, he saw that Noelle was lost in thought, her head lowered, so he turned around and left the room.

Mia was standing not far away, looking slightly flustered. It was clear that she had overheard the conversation from the doorway.

Eugene walked over to her, and Mia's breathing slowed down as she heard his footsteps approaching.

Ever since what happened last time, she had been staying in the dorm and rarely headed downstairs to the campus, so she had not seen Eugene for some time.

She would not have left the campus if she were not worried about Noelle that day. She did not really want to see him as she felt that it was too awkward between them.

Eugene walked right past her and set out some food on the table. He then looked at her and said, "Why are you just standing there, Mia? Come and eat."

Mia quietly walked over to the table. She saw that all the food he prepared was rather plain, probably because of Noelle being sick. She continued keeping her head down as she ate, afraid to look him in the eye.

Eugene grinned as he noticed that she was keeping her head low, but he did not say anything.

After finishing the meal, Mia spoke up with concern. "What do you think is going on? I feel like Cedric has something to do with this."

Noelle would not have asked Eugene that question otherwise.

Eugene replied calmly, "I'm not entirely sure myself."

He had just returned from abroad and was staying with Mia since then, so he really did not know much about Cedric's situation.

Noticing Mia's worried expression, he added, "It's probably just a misunderstanding."

"How would you know? What if Cedric actually did something that hurt Noelle?"

Eugene gave her a look of slight disbelief. "Can you think about something else for once?"

"Then what do you think is going on?"
