With that, Eugene let go of Mia. She ran back to the room without looking back, taking frantic steps. Then, she closed the door behind her and locked it without hesitation, not intending to let him in.
Mia then sat down on the bed. She felt that something was off and took out her phone to message her informant. She wanted to find out what had happened between the Greene and Merlock families, especially why Cedric had not shown up that day.
Something must have gone wrong, and she was determined to get to the bottom of it.
Back when she was figuratively imprisoned by the Cantrells, it was Noelle who had come to her rescue. It was now her turn to repay the favor. While thinking about the matter, she also listened to any movements outside the door.
Mia soon heard Eugene's footsteps coming from the kitchen and stopping outside her door, causing her heart to suddenly tense up. But after a while, there was no longer any sound coming from outside the room.
Mia let out a sigh of relief after the footsteps had faded into the distance. She would not just obediently do as she was told simply because he told her to wait in the room.
She could now finally get a good night's sleep.
But in the middle of the night, Mia suddenly felt that something heavy was pressing down on her, making it hard to breathe. When she opened her eyes, she realized that someone was kissing her.
Her hands instinctively tried to push them away, but they only landed on the burly and familiar feeling of the chest of a man. It was none other than Eugene himself.
Eugene held her hand down and whispered, "It's me."
"I know," Mia replied.
He smiled and asked, "How'd you know it was me?"
He could not help but lower his head to kiss her again before continuing. "Don't make too much noise, or someone might hear us."
Mia's face turned bright red. "You're shameless."
"I just want a kiss. Nothing else."
Eugene was not so perverted as to take things further at a time like this.
He looked down at her and continued, "Didn't you want to know about what happened with the Greene family? I'll go and check on them in a bit."
She immediately stopped resisting after hearing that. She looked up at him eagerly and asked, "Really?"
