Mia's face turned bright red after hearing his question. She was a little upset. "Seriously? This isn't the time to make such jokes."
Eugene looked at her with a teasing look. "The friendship between girls sure is weird."
"Stop beating around the bush already. Just tell me if you actually went to the Greenes last night," Mia replied.
Eugene had no reason to lie about the matter. "I did. And there was nothing major about them."
"Then why didn't Cedric come to see Noelle?"
"He's sick as well. He's currently in the hospital."
Mia was shocked. "Really? I thought it was Mrs. Greene who fell ill?"
"It's a separate case. The weather's been getting worse lately, and the flu started spreading."
Eugene set the breakfast on the table and continued, "Go wake your best friend up for breakfast."
Mia then turned and left to look for Noelle. Eugene suddenly thought about Cedric as she watched her leave. He fell into deep thought for a while before continuing to cook breakfast.
Meanwhile, Mia entered the master bedroom and asked, "Hey, Noelle. Feeling any better?"
Noelle had already woken up by then and was in much better shape after taking the fever medicine. She sat up and replied, "I'm much better now. Thanks for taking care of me."
"It's just the right thing to do. But anyway, the one who cooked all the meals was Eugene, not me," Mia replied.
After that, she looked at Noelle cautiously and continued, "What exactly happened between you and Cedric? Do you want to talk about it?"
The smile on Noelle's face disappeared in an instant.
Mia then immediately changed the subject. "Forget I asked. I had actually asked Eugene to check on the Greene family last night. If you don't want him to bring anything up, that's fine, too."
Noelle immediately looked at her and asked, "So, what's really going on at the Greenes?"
Cedric still had not reached out to her.
Mia replied, "Cedric's fallen ill."
Noelle was surprised. "He's sick?"
