Cedric let out a few coughs into his hand before looking back up. "Call me if anything happens. I'll be back soon."
With that, he left the hospital ward. As for what he would say to Noelle, he actually still had not come up with any ideas.
Magnus watched as the once upright and confident Cedric left the hospital ward looking utterly defeated. He rubbed his face as he wondered how did things end up like this.
Cedric took a taxi to Noelle's apartment. He then looked up at her unit and saw that the lights were off.
He pulled out his phone and hesitated for a very long time before finally dialing Noelle's number. The short few seconds felt like an eternity to him.
The moment the call connected, Cedric's heart started beating like a drum. Neither of them spoke first, and they could faintly hear each other's breathing.
Noelle gripped her phone tightly. After waiting for a very long time, there was still nothing coming from the other end of the phone. Eventually, she let out a few coughs while tearing up a little.
Cedric became anxious when she heard her cough. "If you're sick, why didn't you go to the hospital?"
Noelle covered her mouth and replied, her voice hoarse. "Would going to the hospital fix it?"
The wounds in her heart could not be fixed by a trip to the hospital.
Cedric fell silent for a while. "I'll have someone send you to the hospital."
"I'm not going." Noelle's tone was stubborn. She could not believe that he would not show up to do that himself.
Cedric rubbed his temples as he replied, "Be good, Noelle."
"What right do you have to order me around?!" Noelle roared with anger, but Cedric said nothing more. Furious, she then hung up the call.
She pulled the blanket over her head. Her phone soon started buzzing again, but she no longer picked it up.
Cedric stared at the unanswered calls on his phone and let out a heavy sigh. Then, he turned to his assistant, Kevin, and said, "Send the doctor up."
"Are you not going as well?" Kevin asked.
