Xenia straightened up and pushed out her pregnant belly; she'd always believed it would guarantee her safety.
But Noelle coldly snapped, "It's not my child anyway."
Xenia turned to Wyatt and hoped he'd say something to help her, but he frowned. "If you can get the evidence and bring the Merlocks to justice, Xenia, I promise I'll treat you and the baby well."
Xenia lowered her head and said nothing before Frank intervened. "There's no point in putting up an act, Xenia. You need to contribute if you want to stay in the Liddell family. If we lose this case because of Sean, there's no way you're staying here."
He turned to Wyatt and continued, "If that happens, and you do care about that baby, you can leave with her. You'll understand how tough life can be when you're struggling with money."
Wyatt's expression fell. He turned to Xenia and snapped, "Don't expect me to protect you when that time comes."
Xenia thought of her previous escape and dreaded returning to that suffering life. Being poor was utterly miserable. Being smart enough to make the right choice, she looked up at Noelle and asked, "What do you want me to do?"
"Get the evidence. As for how… Figure it out yourself." Noelle wasn't going to be kind enough to offer tips, especially since such tasks shouldn't be hard at all for someone like Xenia.
Xenia gritted her teeth and said, "I'll try."
"Well, you better try hard for your own sake. If we lose the lawsuit, you think I'll let you off?"
Noelle's eyes were ice-cold, giving Xenia such a fright that she shivered and instinctively held her belly.
Noelle chuckled. "I'll do whatever it takes for revenge. Honestly, I don't even think your baby should be born."
Wyatt stood silently beside her and subtly agreed. He was no man if they failed to avenge their parents.
Xenia was finally shaken. "I'll do my best."
"Good. Let's visit your dad tomorrow." With that, Noelle said no more and went upstairs.
