No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 959

Noelle sneered. "Keep dreaming."

Donovan looked a little frustrated. "You're not one of them anyway, so wouldn't it be better to return to the Liddell family? Once Xenia is out of the picture, you'll be the only true daughter of this family. No one would ever mistreat you."

Noelle paused in her steps. "Do you think you can brush aside everything you did in the past like nothing happened? Don't waste your time.

"The only reason I'm standing with you right now is because this case isn't over yet, but when the day comes that it is over…" She didn't finish her sentence. Instead, she glanced at them and turned to drive away.

Donovan's expression was grim as he turned to Frank. "See that? Noelle's still taking the outsider's side. When the case ends, who knows what she'll do?"

"She can do whatever she wants. It's hers, to begin with, and who are you to control her? If we'd treated her a little better back then, we wouldn't have driven her away in the first place," Frank replied with a tinge of resentment in his voice.

Donovan was momentarily speechless. "I'm trying to make up for it now, am I not? But the way she looks at us makes it seem like we're enemies."

Standing off to the side, Xenia watched with a gloomy look in her eyes. Sure enough, the blood-related family member received special treatment.

If she'd seen through the true colors of the Liddells earlier and not fought Noelle for their affection… If she had just focused on building her own life, perhaps she wouldn't have been stuck in this Liddell family mess. Xenia rubbed her belly and figured she had to start planning for herself now.

The group headed to the detention center, where Sean was transferred.

Xenia sat anxiously in the visitation room. Soon, Sean was brought over. He had a shaved head and looked much older.

When he saw Xenia, his eyes paused on her belly, and a flicker of emotion crossed his expression. Then, he settled down and asked, "How's the baby?"

"Doing fine," she replied and paused before asking, "Where's the evidence? Didn't you say you'd hand it over after turning yourself in?"

Sean looked past her at Noelle and the others. "Are you all forcing her?"

Noelle let out a cold laugh. "Wasn't this the deal we made? If there's no evidence and the Merlocks go unpunished, I'll be taking it out on Xenia."

Sean's face contorted with anger, but he soon remembered where he was and forced himself to sit again. Tears welled up in Xenia's eyes as she cried silently, looking pitiful. Right now, the only hope she had was the evidence Sean might be hiding, and she had complicated feelings toward him.
