Inside the car, Noelle was in the passenger seat, nervously staring at the laptop. She had no idea what kind of evidence might be inside. The USB drive only had a single video on it.
When Jeremy clicked on the video, Noelle saw footage of Ruth bribing Sean, and their conversation was also recorded.
It looked like they were at Sean's place. Little girls' clothes and toys were laid out on the couch.
Jeremy smiled. "There's your evidence. It looks like the Merlocks will finally pay for what they did all those years ago."
Noelle lit up. "We finally got it."
Jeremy hummed. "Yes, but it almost got stolen. Makes you wonder who tried to snatch it."
Noelle turned to him. "Did anyone else hear what Sean said at the time? Did Xenia hear?"
Jeremy shook his head. "She was still stuck hanging on the window. No way she heard anything. Visiting hours had just started. Two staff members came to escort Sean away, and a janitor was nearby, too."
Noelle thought for a moment. "Then the problem probably lies there."
Jeremy looked at her. "The Merlocks have been unusually quiet. They might be plotting something behind the scenes."
Noelle remembered running into the Merlocks last night. It did make sense. "But I heard their company is in crisis. They should be busy dealing with that. I didn't think they would have something up their sleeve."
She had been careless.
Jeremy cocked a brow. "Laura has been going on multiple blind dates. She is probably trying to find a new backer. That might explain today's incident if she succeeded."
"True." Noelle glanced out the window and noticed Cedric standing across the street, seemingly waiting to hear from her.
