Donovan was annoyed. "Then why do you keep forcing Xenia to go through all that trouble if you think it's pointless?"
Blake walked over. "She should be doing it. How is it troublesome?
"If it weren't for the fact that she's pregnant, I would've made her repay her father's debt long ago. Do you think she would still be eating with us?"
Donovan was taken aback. "Blake, you can't say that. After all, she's carrying Wyatt's child."
Blake didn't back down. "So what if it's his kid? That's nothing compared to our parents' deaths. You're all too nice.
"There's no way I would leave the Quigley family alone if I were around. They would be dead by now!"
Chill crawled down Xenia's spine. She knew better than anyone how violent Blake could get. She instinctively hid behind Wyatt and whispered, "But I did help you get the evidence."
They wouldn't go back on their words, right? Blake glared at her. "You better pay respect to my parents every day. Or I swear you won't get away with it."
Noelle glanced at Blake's face. If she looked closely, she could still see faint scarring, but it was a huge improvement.
Carl's surgery was impressive. It was no wonder so many people in power wanted to work with him.
Blake touched his face. "It's still visible, but Carl said I can go in for the final round of treatment after I recover."
Noelle nodded. "It's healing well."
That much was true. Blake smiled. "It's all thanks to you noticing Xenia's behavior that led us to find the truth. We aren't as sharp as you."
Frank nodded. "He's right. This is all thanks to you, Noelle. None of us should forget that."
Donovan cleared his throat. "Noelle, you're always welcome here, no matter how upset you are with the family. We're your brothers and will always have your back."
Donovan added, "You weren't even here and haven't done anything to her. I don't know why she's rejecting your gifts. That ointment is priceless."
Carl sighed. "Just have someone bring it to her room later. It takes time to cultivate a relationship."
Xenia chimed in eagerly, "Carl, can I have some, too? I need it. I've got stretch marks on my stomach and they look terrible."
Carl glanced at her. "I'll have Wyatt hand them to you later."
Xenia was excited, but she couldn't ignore Carl's cold gaze. Was she imagining things?
After Noelle sat down in the dining room, her brothers followed suit.
Donovan was the first to speak. "Noelle, don't you have something to ask Carl? Why not ask him now?"
