After finishing his explanation, Cedric sensed something off about Noelle's question and asked, "What are you trying to say?"

"Nothing much. You probably just saw Carl as well, and he's quite excellent in this field. If we let him take a look at Mrs. Greene, he might be able to identify the underlying issue," she replied.

Cedric instinctively frowned and said, "That won't be necessary for now. I've already contacted the top medical team."

Since Cedric had already made his decision, she felt there was nothing more to add. She simply replied, "Alright then. I hope Mrs. Greene's treatment goes smoothly."

Cedric's gaze locked onto her as he spoke with some emotion, "Thank you."

He truly hadn't expected Noelle to approach him regarding Emma's illness. Noelle avoided his eyes and said, "No need to thank me. After all, you've helped me so much already."

"But you've never liked the Liddells. Don't let me put you in their debt, which might force you to do something you don't want to," he cautioned.

Hearing his words, Noelle's emotions suddenly fluctuated, and she couldn't help feeling warmth in her eyes. She turned away and mumbled, "I understand."

Cedric simply gazed at her, wanting very much to hold her hand. Nonetheless, ultimately, he only thought about it without daring to act.

After all this time trying to repair their relationship, Noelle's attitude toward him had only just become more relaxed, so he couldn't rush things. He gulped and said, "Let me drop you off at your school."

"No need. I'll just take a cab," Noelle declined. Then, she walked to the roadside.

Suddenly, Jeremy's car pulled up, surprising her. Had he not left yet?

He rolled down the window and looked at Noelle, saying, "Get in. I'll take you back, and we can discuss some case details on the way."

Noelle nodded and entered the car. Cedric stood at the roadside, watching helplessly as another man took Noelle away. He tugged at his collar, feeling more frustrated than he had in all his years.
