When Steven mentioned this, his eyes held a hint of mockery.
Cedric looked at Steven and said, "We were minding our own business until now, but if your dad wants to cause trouble for the sake of a woman, I'm ready to respond in kind. Let's go."
"Mr. Greene, please don't leave! I came personally for you," Steven pleaded.
"And who asked you to?" Cedric replied, having no intention of discussing anything with someone who lacked authority.
Jeremy stepped forward and patted Steven's shoulder. "Don't be upset. That's just how these rich people are."
Steven's expression immediately darkened. "What does the Greene family mean by this?"
Jeremy played the role of the reasonable one. "Look, we've worked together before, so let me be straight with you.
"This gentleman is very fond of that young lady from the Liddells, so he's stepping up for the Liddells' affairs. You should advise Mr. Hitchcock that it's not worth going against the Greene family."
"If my dad would listen to advice, things wouldn't be like this. I don't understand—he used to be such a level-headed person, but now he's being wrapped around a woman's finger," Steven admitted with frustration.
Jeremy saw this as an opportunity and continued, "I know you can't stop him, but you could help behind the scenes. As long as the witness is safe and the trial proceeds smoothly and the Merlocks face consequences, Mr. Greene won't hold a grudge against your father."
Steven hesitated. "My dad hates traitors the most."
"This isn't betrayal—you're actually helping him. When he gets tired of that woman and comes to his senses, he'll realize you were right.
"He has had issues with you for years, but if you make this happen and earn Mr. Greene's gratitude, that would be great for you," Jeremy persuaded.
Steven nodded. "Alright, give me some time."
"Good. If your family wants to clean up its reputation, this is a perfect opportunity," Jeremy concluded before walking away.
When he went downstairs, he found that Cedric was still waiting. He approached him and said, "I've convinced Steven. Based on what I know about him, he'll agree.
"Whatever they're planning will be under our control. Once the lawsuit is over, all this will end."
